I strongly recommend Dr. Barba.  He did a fantastic job on me and I love him.  He does, in fact, take Aetna.  He did such a good job on me (Lap RNY) that I was back to work in 6 days after my surgery.  He also had the most experience.  All the other doc's are fantastic, don't get me wrong, I just happen to know by experience that Barba is great. I do know Dr. Tishler is fantastic as well.  But I can't speak from experience, just what I have heard.

I am not sure about the insurance but he does bypass. i have talked with a few people who have used him for that. They dont belong here though. I met them in the waiting room and now we talk thru his message board. I loved his bedside manner and his true concern for his patients.  He is always on time  when i have had to see him. so that is a plus in my book.

I haven't had my surgery yet but I am seeing Dr. Barba and I know he does both open and laporscopic (sp?) procedures.  I have Aetna insurance and he is accepting my insurance.

Sorry about the insurance problem .I had to change doctors too, but for another reason. I had my surgery with Dr.  Barba in April 2006. I have done well and have had no real problems or complications. I know he does both open and laproscopic RNY procedures. I am not sure if he has a criteria for who qualifies for which procedure. This is just a little set back, hang in there and check out a few other doctors to find out whom you would like to do your surgery. It will all be worth the wait. take care Sher

In my search to find a new Dr what should I be looking for ? I know I would like someone who is close by and who has ALLOT of experience and someone who hasnt lost anyone would also be a big A+++++++ Today I had to take my daughter to Old Navy and she had to try on a pair of shorts while I was waiting for her I just happen to catch my reflection in the mirror I thought I was going to loose it right there, it took everything I had in me not to break down and cry . I was so upset I didnt eat the rest of the day and night ....

I know how painful those mirror glimpses can be.  I'm sorry you are hurting.  Keep fighting and your new life will be on it's way.
