Hi All, I was wondering what DR. Bell's patients thought about him and Yale NH Hospital. I am pre-op and have approval for the VSG but haven't yet committed to a DR.

Hi, I actually just meet Dr. Bell on friday and he is great. The class that he gave was very imformative and helped me out a great deal. The girls at the office were also great. I check out the doc on Ct board of doctors (on-line) he has not had any law suits or complaints. He is also the director of beriatric surgery. So basically he is as good as it gets.  I myself should be seeing him soon again. The was it normally works is, your class visit frist (last about 3 to 4 hours). then an one on one visit then surgry. Good luck. Let me know how it goes, hopes this helps. Mary

I loved him but he did not do my surgery because at the time he did not do lap band (still don't know if he does), but he came highly recommended and was so nice! I love the surgeon I ended up using - he is the greatest - and very good friends with Dr. Bell. That's a good sign to me!! Good luck! Nancy K

Many people at my support group are Dr.Bell patients.  They all love him and he has come a few times to speak to us.  He seems cool to me and the fact that he comes from New Haven to New London impresses me. Scott

Thank you all for the input, it is comforting to hear good things about the guy that will be cutting you open. I too liked him. I sent him an email one night around 7pm and he answered at 9:30 that same night, I was amazed. Thanks again.....Marc

Do you think you can give me his e-mail. I would like to ask him some questions. He never gave it to us. He probably forgot since we had a very long class. Mary

Hi-just curious-what insurance do you have that approved the vsg and what surgeons in CT do it? I want to have this done, but can't find one who will do it. Thanks, Jeanne

I am a state employee with anthem bc/bs. They denied me twice saying it is investigational but I won my final appeal. I sent in a 120 page appeal with soooo much info proving that the sleeve is as safe as the band to perform and with less side effects and better weight loss and they approved it. they did say in my approval letter that it will remain on investigational status. I guess that means that it is not readily approved for everyone.
