So far so good....
Hi Everyone,
So far so good...my primary care doc approved my request for WLS and referred me to Dr. Choi, my insurance apparently is fairly good about approval and it looks like my BMI will be sufficient. My first appointment is scheduled for next Thursday, they said it could take up to 2 hours! What on earth takes that long?I was also told that if all my test go well I can expect to have surgery 10-12 weeks from that date...that means late August or early Sept! WOW!
Would love to hear what other's experienced at their first consult.
On my way,
Lisa
my first consult was meeting with the nurse practionar giving lots of background info. She wanted to know everything i have tried and hadnt tried. What my medical history was. She also had me read and take a survey. I had a whole packet to fill out. Then the doc came in and did an exam. They also gave me a list of stuff i had to complete. It took me a month to get all my testing done. Then i had to go and have follow up wiht some of the specailst. so mine took a bit longer. i met with my dr at the end of jan/begin of feb. every office is different. good luck
Hi Lisa,
Im in your same shoes. My appt with the surgern is on june 22. they told me that it could take up to 4 hours. what on earth could we talk about for 4 hours. All i know is that i want as much info as i can get. Im going to take a notebook and take lots and lots of notes. I wanted to take my mom, but she lives out of town and doesnt speak any english so that wouldnt work, so note will have to do. I hope you have a good doctors appt. I have been writting all my quetions down so when i go i dont blank out and forget. You may want to do the same. Hope it goes well. KIT

So happy to hear I am not alone in my state of mild confusion and anticipation...and from the sound of things and what Cyndee claims I have little to worry about.
I think I am just going to take a deep breath and enjoy the process.; trust my instincs and think positive!
Thanks for all your support and encouragement!
Lisa
