Hi all, I am a real newbie and just beginning my journey. Reading some of the info I am getting worried about insurance...I have BlueCare Family Plan Husky A. I went to Dr. Choi's educational seminar and was told there is no waiting list for my plan and  that it is covered...BUT the big question is how easily? I have a BMI of 49.6 and no, can you believe it?, no significant other health issues like diabetes or high cholesterol...I do have some joint pain and lower back pain...but that is all. So if you have had any experience with this plan...I would love to chat! thanks, Lisa

i have it. I have had no issues. I have been approved for everything immideatly. i waited two days for my final approval. They do require medical nessacity. I do have that. With your bmi and your joint pain you should be ok. Have you dont any work up or other test with the doctor yet? I know i had to be put through a cardiology, sleep study, psych exam and a few other test. good luck and welcome

Thanks for writing Sarah. I am hopeful but cautiously waiting...almost holding my breath...I think I won't be relieved until that final approval letter is in my hand. If you don't mind my asking...what was your medical necessity? I wonder if the insurance ranks these necessities, for example is one more necessary than the other type of thing. I wonder if my BMI alone will be the necessity. It will be an interesting journey. So you are going in for a lap band? Was that a personal choice or dictated by BlueCare? I am still in the process of making that decision. Thanks so much for sharing. I truly appreciate it! Lisa
