Headaches

Hey Y'all!

What the heck are you taking for headaches? Tylenol just isn't cutting it for me.  I don't see my PCP or Dr. Aranow until next month, but am thinking of trying to get in to see either of them earlier.  I had a problem with headaches before surgery and they just started coming back once I started back to work (imagine that!).  Guess I could quit work, but then my poor hubby and I would be living in a cardboard box somewhere, so I don't think that's a feasible solution!

Hope you all are doing well.  Talk to you soon!

I take Topamax. hehehe That's not gonna help you tho. I have killer migranes (i had them daily for 3 months before I gave into the ER and the IV. I started the Topamax the next day.) I just had to be a brat. Hope you find something that helps since headaches sucks. Kathy

Oh - I can't imagine having daily migraines.  Prior to surgery - and I think it was from all the stress and worrying about it - I would get migraines at least once a week.  So far, so good though - just really bad headaches that I can't get to go away!

I'm glad something is working for you though.  Headaches are NO fun at all!

I took liquid Motrin.  It really helped until I could tolerate pills. Even the kid's chewable Motrin.  It gives dosages for adults as well. Headaches are the worse.. :-( Feel better, Mickey

I get a whopper of a headache occasionally that tylenol just doesn't touch.  I checked with my surgeon and he said that even though Motrin and NSAID meds are off limits, the occasional use is OK as long as you  take it with a Prevacid (or any other type of medication like that) chaser.  I had a bad headache off/on (more on though) for about 3 days and tylenol was like candy- I took 1 motrin and an hour later it was gone.  He told me that regular use of these meds is definitely a no-no, but an occasional one isn't going to hurt.  Hope you feel better.

Yes, Tylenol barely helped me before surgery.  I used to take Aleve almost daily because I had such bad lower back pain.  I loved that stuff! I'll definitely check with the doc to see what he thinks about taking Ibuprofen on occasion.  If not, then maybe he has another suggestion!

Thanks for the reply!

Hi Mickey,

I'll have to talk to my doc about this because I was told no NSAIDS.  I suppose it wouldn't hurt on occasion though.

Thanks!

Alternative ideas.... Chiropractic care has helped my daughter, who used to suffer from constant headaches... Personally, I find that drinking lots of water helps  get rid of my headaches..often a headache is the first sign that I am getting dehydrated... Good luck...

Hi, Increase your fluids...caffeine free, sugar free...water...maybe Splenda or nutrasweet may be giving your a headache...Flush your system w/ water for a few days...Signs of dehydration (like Dorota said) is a headache... Hunger, too, can bring on a headache.  Maybe you need to eat more often (small amounts) to ward off a headache.

Don't do NSAIDS...you'll rip a hole in your pouch.  Ask Dr A first.  Some "other" docs may say yes to them, but, he'll have his own opinion. How is your sugar?  Is it just right or maybe too low?  Call Lois Mon and talk to her about it and she'll probably get you in this week (I know it's busy, but go!) I hope next Sat isn't like today!  grrrr Paula
