Drinking

Nope, I don't mean alcoholic beverages either! I have been having a horrible time the past couple of days with drinks.  I don't have a physical problem drinking - I drink water, crystal light, tea and milk.  But I'm so bored with it! Milk is my evening, winding down drink.  I'd take it over a glass of wine any day! But during the day, I get so tired of the same old boring drinks.  I look at the drink machine at work and always choose a water (sometimes I put those crystal light on the go packs in a water) - except for today when I chose a Diet Green Tea.  But nothing is satisfying my taste buds.  Is that weird or what? Maybe it's all a part of my body removing itself from food addiction.  I ate what tasted good - and I drank what tasted good too!

So, that's my dilemma for the day! Otherwise, everything is going well.  I just passed the 9 week mark yesterday and have lost 48 pounds! It's pretty amazing.

LOL I see people drinking Pepsi and Coke and I just drool. The thing is, I really don't even like it. I like my water. LOL I have days where I just want something else too so I don't know if that is the food addiction or my taste buds rebelling. Good luck on it.  Congrats on the 48 lbs.

Hi Michelle, I also have gone through the "boring" part of drinking my fluids in.  I used to be a BIIIG Diet Dr. Pepper/Diet Pepsi drinker prior to surgery. I cannot take just plain water unless it's the only thing that's available.  I do make my own lemonade (fresh squeezed with Nutrasweet) and for kicks I'll throw in some cut up lime it helps to get creative. I also carry Crystal light when I'm on the "go" for work meetings & if I run out of fluids. I also make "slushies" at home with crushed ice, water, and the Crystal light flavoring packets.  Comes out like a snow cone only with a little more liquid. 4-C brand just came out with a HUGE line of different iced tea packets...blue berry & cranberry apple.. (my favorite)   SOBEE also has some light versions of drinks with Splenda in glass bottles also.  My favorite is the citrus the green tea I'm not a huge fan of. Ocean Spray has a "lite" version of cranberry juice & citrus fruit drinks.  They are YUMMY also.  2 grams of sugar per serving so if you have dumping syndrome you should be pretty safe with them.  They're in huge bottles in the juice section.  Calories & fat are extremely low as well. I live off of flavored waters...Fruit 2 O has an apple flavored (hard to find) that is to die for it tastes just like apple cider.   My weakness is coffee.  Dunkin Donuts I should take stock out in I get so much of it.  I try to bulk up on my normal fluids through out the day due to the caffiene.  (Caffiene is suppose to be a no no for us RNY patients but it doesn't bother me or my pouch.) The BEST...get an iced coffee to your liking & stick it in the freezer (make sure to put the straw in it.)  Wait about 1/2 - 1 hour (for a large) and it comes out just like a frozen coffee coolata without all the fat, calories, & sugar..I got everyone at my workplace doing this!   This is my heaven during the summer a real treat like a dessert. On occasion I'll make a small sugar free ice cream shake as a treat.  I have to be really careful because I do "dump" with sugar alcohol so I limit myself sparingly.    Hang in there Michelle.. you'll find you will get creative & every time I go shopping I'm always looking for new things on the market to drink for liquids.  It does get easier & as you get farther out in your journey you'll find you aren't really missing out because you will be feeling & looking so good! Please feel free to email me if you need anything... & GREAT job on your weight loss!  It's an amazing journey! Mickey

That is awesome.  Congrats to you. As for the drink issue I am right there with you. I did get the 4c drinks and that has helped change it up. I also have added the diet snapple. They have a new lime flavor that is awesome.

Michelle, you are singing my song!!! This was so me for months! Heres some of the things that I have found that help to change it up for me. 1. Moo Magic. Its like the crystal light to go packs but for milk. I have only tried the Chocolate Malt flavor but I love it and it gets you that extra boost of protein in the milk too. You can find it near the hot cocoa st Stop and Shop 2. Ocean spray diet cranberry juice. Sweetened with splenda so its not bitter but only 3g (i believe) of sugar. They also have an orange thats really good too. 3. Decaffe iced coffees from Dunkin Donuts with splenda and skim. As long as its decaf it counts toward your fluid intake. 4. Dasani, or Aquafina(or any other brands) of flavored water. 5. Crystal light as a stand by. 6. Snapple diet teas and juices. Especially the hard to find plum-a-grannate Yum. I get bored easilly and change it up often. In the beginning I had a hard time with plain water. It hit my pouch like a lead weight no matter the temperature, so I had to get creative. Good luck and CONGRATS on the loss so far! Keep up the good work!

Ok y'all are just makin me jealous since I can't have any of this stuff. I get to drink water, water, and lets see, more water. Oh yeah I can use the True Lemon, Lime and Orange and that's it, Stupid sweetner allergy. That reminds me. I need to look up stevia to see where I can buy it. They have flavored Stevia so that might help me.

Julio... A trick I learned from a friend.  Mix some milk into the coffee you wish to keep in the fridge.  It keeps it from getting bitter!  It works for me. paula

Hey, Belle.... I know it gets boring with the drinks.  Do you like iced tea or coffee?  I brew my own iced tea in a "Mr Coffee Iced tea maker"  It makes great iced tea and we flavor it w/ lemon and lime juice and add sweet n low (cause we get too gassy from splenda)...we drink A LOT of that. I keep a case of bottled water in my car at all times... Bob LOVES the "Mott's PLUS LIGHT"  60 cal, 14 sugars, but, we don't dump on it.  Keep his bowels going, too.  It's a change and is 50% less calories & sugar and has added vit C, D and Calcium See you in a couple of weeks!  We're winding down here...still have a lot to do, but it's getting done! YIPPEE!  Finally here. paula
