Bathroom Issues
Traci,
Its normal, but can and will get uncomfortable. Most fiber additives like benefiber or even exlax is not the answer because they pull liquids from the organs to soften the stool and with our issues of quick dehydration and lack of food can make you feel really sick. I would suggest calling the doctors office for suggestions because none of us really should be telling you what to do.
IBut just remember, if you aren't uncomfortable than don't worry too much. Yyou probably have consumed less food in the last 3-4 days than you would have in just one big meal pre-op. My only suggestion is to find natural ways to keep yourself regular. Once you rely on Products to help you along, you will never get it right on your own. I used to add a teaspoon of cooked spinach to my food. Good luck

Hi Traci - Definitely call and ask what your doctor suggests, don't wait! They might suggest some liquid colace or milk of magnesia or something like that - I know every time I have had surgery in the past I have had to take some type of stool softener.
Don't put it off - if you don't go soon you might have to resort to using a fleet....It's too bad that surgeons don't have this information automatically written down - many people have issues after surgery and it is really uncalled for!
Best of luck with your healing!
