Well, I'm back home now after my RNY bypass on Monday.  Things are going pretty well.  They were able to stick with laproscopic so that was good news.  I have some numbness in my upper legs (I've seen this in other posts and have spoken with dr.).  I have had some low grade fever at night but again it appears to be within limits.  Only other thing is in my throat I feel like there is something there.  I see my Dr again next week and will keep an eye on it. I am now on stage 3 and doing fine.  My only concern is that you should eat only if you are truly hungry.  How do you know that?  Many times in my past I skipped many meals because I wasn't thinking about food.  I need to get over this so I don't start repeating past mistakes.   Anyway, Glad to be on the other side.  1 Day at a time. Hi BJ, Your fever may be from having the breathing tube in during surgery.  Did they send you home with one of those breathing tube trainers?  USE IT!  The feeling in your throat is probably from that, too.  I had a sore throat for days, afterwards. Make sure you get in at least 65gms of protein a day at this point in time.   Have your shakes three times a day and a couple of snacks (soup or yogurt) in between.  Protein is the most important at this point in time. You'll get the hang of the eating and stages in time.  No worries.  It seems confusing, but it'll happen for you. You'll have more "head hunger" than real actual hunger... Welcome to the loser's side.  Never have I felt so great being a big loser! Paula

Glad to hear you are home and doing well.  Your throat could be irritated from the tube they put down to your lungs to ventilate you when you are under anesthesia.   As for eating only when you are hungry, were you given instructions to do that? As your diet progresses you will need to try and eat three meals each day of allowed foods in allowed amounts. Even if you are not hungry, we need to eat  or (take protien supplements) as instructed to heal and to lose weight. Not eating regular meals can later slow down weight loss because your body thinks you are starving it and conserves the calories you are taking in.  Welcome to the losers bench. Sher
