Bathing suits and body image

I am still VERY pre-op (I have one of those insurance companies who don't believe in letting my surgeon decide when I am ready). But I have enjoyed the water every year with my kiddos (and I have the scary photos to prove it). I am looking forward to my swim suits getting smaller. But mostly, I am looking forward to moving and feeling better. When it comes to how I look, I try to remember that even the most gorgeous women in the world get air-brushed in all the magazines. I am not devoid of vanity, mind you, but I try not to be too caught up in it. I figure if I'm having this surgery to be Christie Brinkley, I am SOL!! So get your best, most beautiful suit, and then strut your stuff, people! From all I read on this board, there are a lot of beautiful people posting, regardless of what our crazy paparazzi driven culture thinks! Rock on! Carole

I applaud the sentiment!!! I am a bit of a hipocrite in that sense though. I will tell everyone the same thing but will not be caught dead in a swimsuit . I am glad you are not!!! Sue

My feeling is this: If someone doesn't like the way I look in a bathibg suit, then they don't have to look!

For me, it's not so much about everyone else.... it's about how uncomfortable I am in swimsuits. I even felt that way when I was thin and had a slammin' body. I do agree, however, that if someone does not like something then they don't have to look.

Good Going young Lady! Never, ever let anyone dictate to you where you can go to enjoy yourself! Even at my heaviest I still went to the beach with my son and enjoyed the time we had together! Be well and have a great summer! See you at the beach!
