How about we shoot for a fall 5K run and get as many of us as possible involved? Fall gives me the time I need to condition so that I can actually do the run - and enough heads up for us all to get involved. What do you say? Good morning and good day to all - make it a great one! M.

How about one of these? I chose them for central location in CT and/or "fun" quotient. Come On Over 5K Date : 9/8/2007 9:30:00 AM Distance : 5K Start : Portland Town Hall, 33 East Main St, Portland , CT Contact Info : Thomas Bransfield, 860-342-0467 [email protected] 16 Covell Hill Road Portland, Ct., 06480 www.portlandct.org Description : 5k run through neighborhood streets with a 3/4 mile off road loop along the Connecticut River.Trophies are awarded for 1st 3 places in each division as well as for overall Men's and Women's winners. or my personal fave - http://www.hartfordmarathon.com/Marathon/ Don't let the word "marathon" scare you. This is one of the coolest races in the state, because it has a HUGE range of events. There's a marathon, half marathon, TEAM RELAY and 5K. The course is gorgeous. and check out the team info. If we aren't ready this year for the longer (~ 6mile) distances, we could do the shorter 5k and train for next year! (Gosh, can you tell how goal oriented I am? Slightly compulsive, perhaps... ) Cheers! Carole Team Relay Distances The Marathon Team Relay is run simultaneously with the United Technologies Greater Hartford Marathon on the same course. The Relay consists of the following 4 legs: Leg 1: 6.2 Miles Only "hill" is the Founders Bridge Leg 2: 6.4 Miles Perfectly flat) - begins & ends near intersection of Chapel Rd. & Main St. - South Windsor Leg 3: 7.4 Miles Two small "hills" - coming up from Great River Park and over the Founders Bridge Leg 4: 6.2 Miles Begins with Asylum Hill, rolls through West Hartford, and returns down Asylum Hill Teams may have 2, 3, or 4 members. Each member must run at least one complete leg. Any one member may run up to 3 legs, in any order. There is no minimum age requirement for the Relay.

I'll join next year and do a 5K walk. That is one of my goals. To be able to do a 5K walk sometime next year. That and to fit into some rides at Six Flags. I Love coasters and my big ole butt has kept me from riding for years.
