5K Run!!!!!
I would love that, Kathy! Although I am not up to speed -- literally -- with the jogging/running yet; I do a pretty mean cross-training (alternating power walking with intermittant jogging), so I don't want to hold you back...and Hampton is hilly. But would be great to have some "training" buddies in my beautiful little town! M.
Hey there Dorota,
Just wanted to say congrats to you and your success with the 5k run. I know how hard that was for you not being able to run, but what you do with your children is an inspiration to us all. Your a wonderful friend and an amazing mother and wife. I am proud to know you and to call you a friend.
I am so proud of you and all your accomplishments. You have inspired us all. God Bless and Congrats again to you.
Also big cheers to Kathy K too, as always she is a success in her accomplishments too, she has become quite the exercise queen for us all to admire.
Hugs
KimC
Thanks Kim.
And you are so right about Kathy. I would have never started this without her. She has accomplished so much and is just pulling me along....lol...
I just hope I can actually keep up with her on the next run..
Hey Kim, check out my post about the 5K run for breast cancer research on may 12th. Wanna join me? they have a seperate run for the kids. It's too late to start training now, but I'm sure we can get a mixed group together, some to run and some to walk.
As far as what I do with my children, I want to teach them these new habits so they don't go down the same slippery road to obesity as I did.
And, I feel a little selfish spending so much time exersizing when I leave them out. So I include them as much as I can. It's good for them, it brings us closer, and it's more fun !!!!!
This morning I went on a 1/2 hour run with Mishalle. Thomas joined us on his bike. It was a lovely morning, and we enjoyed the sounds of nature. There is a woodpecker in our neighborhood, and her gets rather loud in the early AM. We make it a game to try and see who can spot him pecking while we run, or walk.. So far the only one that has spotted him is Thomas (or so he says...hmmmm)...
In the Afternoon I went with Natasha to the Gym (She is my 17 year old)...And we had fun running on the treadmill and the elliptical. Commiting to going with her makes me more likely to keep to a regular exersize schedule at the gym, since I really don't enjoy going there that much....Going by myself is kinda boring. Going with her or my husband is fun....
I hate to beat a dead horse, but I really want to stress how important exersize is in this journey. It is a great stress release, keeps us healthy, and keeps the weight from coming back.
For me, it has really helped me deal with stress. When I first realized just how much I missed relying on food as a stress reliever, things got a little harsh for me. Kim, you and I have discussed my issues with dealing with stress before, so you know what I am talking about. But exersize, daily exersize, pushing my body to new limits, makes me feel more capable of dealing with those stressful situations.
And I just love that feeling of strength I get, that feeling that my body is capable of anything. I used to always feel like I could not count on my body for anything. I never want to feel that way again!!!!!!!NEVER!!!!!!
Sorry, I am rambling on...........
Rambling, schrambling...this is DEAD ON, the gut honest truth of what we must ascribe to in our new bodies, minds, souls - there simply cannot be long-term success without embracing physical health through exercise; find what you love to do in terms of moving your body, and DO IT, as often as possible. Kudos, my friend! M.
Dorota,
Congrats on getting through the 5K walk/run - kids and all. I am glad you were able to be there with Kathy. She is such an inspiration! You must be so proud of all of your accomplishments and the great role model you are for your children. When I get myself together, I want to be just like you!!
Congrats to Kathy as well - our super woman!!
Hugs,
Nancy K
Hi,
Good job!!! I am running the Race in the park on Saturday in New Britain. It raises money for Breast cancer. I have been training, but I can only run about 1.5 miles before I need to stop and walk for a bit. I am just going to do my best...this has been my goal for years. Every year I would walk it and cry because I let myself down for one more year, one more year that I didnt make my goal but this year I am just going to give it a go.
Maybe I will see you there!!!
Hugs,
Tracy
