low weight 169 high weight 185
Ok Gals and Guys,
I went to the doctor on monday, because I was sick. He checked my weight and told me I was gaining weight. OK. from 169 to 185... and I never thought that 185 was bad, but he seemed to think so. Here is my story...I had my surgery in August of 04, I never saw my surgeon for a post op, nor did I see any other post op doctor. I get b-12 injections and I do eat more than what I used to. I have an appointment with a surgeon for May 23rd, I work for Aetna and he did a siminar so I asked him if he would see me. Anyways long story short. I guess I dont have a question, just kinda venting...I dont think I am a failure, but I do need work.
Rachael! I was out on disability when Dr. Aranow did the seminar at Aetna. How was it? You're going to be very happy with him. He is very thorough and his staff is incredible! I know you'll be able to get back on track and I'm so glad you're seeing Dr. A and Liz for post op support. There are also support group meetings at Middlesex hospital that you're welcome to come to. The schedule is below. Good luck!

Rachael, please don't be so hard on yourself. Try to see your PCP in a more positive light, he only has your best interest--and optimum health--at heart. Weight gain is a common occurrence for post-ops more than 2 years out, but it is not, I repeat, NOT inevitable! All true success starts with the mind. You know what to do, and like Michelle says, you are in the very best of hands (tiny as they are!) with Dr. A. I recently found this on another Board, perhaps it may be of help to you. In the meantime, keep posting and let us know how you're doing. Best, Maureen
