April 23, 2005 - TT surgery. Today is Saturday; I'm 5 day's post op. I really don't remember much. We were told to be there at 12:30, I was scheduled for 1:30. The doctor did not show up until 2:30. I was hungry, apprehensive and nervous. The anesthesiologist came in, Dr. Sherman, he was wonderful. I brought with me the recipe of drugs the other guy used during the gastric bypass; it was the only time I woke up without being ill. He was very grateful that I brought that. When Dr. Thomson my surgeon finally showed up, I was walked into the OR, the IV was started and that's all I remember until I woke up, not vomiting. I was so grateful not to be sick from the anesthesia. So, they sent us home, I have a binder, 2 drains and as the doctor said, "a billion stitches". I think he was exaggerating; Again, I had the anchor cut incision. I got to mention, my sister from NJ came and spent the week with me. She was a god send. Fran, cover me, Fran, put my slippers on, answer the phone, get me water, feed the cat, and do the laundry, on and on and on. I strongly suggest you have someone with you for the first few days at least, you will not feel like lifting your pinky finger. We went home, I tried to sleep on the couch night one, not good. Night 2 I moved to the living room couch, not good. I thought, let's rent a lift chair, best move we made. It cost less then $100.00 for the month, it's great, it reclines and lifts you out at the same time. Now for the graphic stuff no one wants to hear but I need to share. I was given oxycodone for the pain and valium. No one told up that the oxycodne bounds you up. Let me tell you, when you have had a TT, the last friggen thing you want to do is bear down to poop, (or cough I may add) so get some sugar free southing drops. Well, I took a suppository, and tried that, didn't work. I sent hubby to get fleet enema, I tried 2 of them, and it didn't work. I finally stopped taken the oxycodone. Hubby called the doctor, and he prescribed a stool softener, doc-q-lace. It helped, and the doctor told my husband to do another fleet, hold my cheeks closed for 5 minutes and try that. Now girls, this is a position you never want your husband to see you in. It took me time to get down on all fours, (yep, doggie style) and hubby for the first time in 30 years saw my brown asshole and put in the fleet, help my cheeks shut while I was moaning. What a Kodak moment. I finally pooped out all the fleet and a drop of farty brown poop but still felt like I was bound. At three in the am, I got up and took the best dump of my entire life. My butt hole is very sore, I almost went to the emergency room to get cleaned out. This part is for females only, my girlfriend called this the woman's secret. Stick your thumb up your vagina, find your rectum and the bound **** and pu**** down. She claims it works, I did not try this,, I'm writing this just for info, and wish you all the best of luck with this maneuver. For now, I'm on tylenon and still taking a 5mg valium as needed, the stitches hurt some, especially where the drain holes are. I just had to share this with anyone going in for a TT. My results will be posted soon, I lost the hanging pooch, and feel very swollen in the middle, sorta like I have the start of a beer belly, (sorry guys). I hope the swelling goes down, and I'm finally flat, I'll even be happy with sorta flat. I wish all of you well and hope you don't get bound up. It's gotta be the worst I've ever gone though, and I've been though several major surgery's. Be well, I'll post photos soon. Oh, the best part, 5 days ago I walked into the OR at 160.5. Today I was 149.5. Holy crap must have don't this. Be well.

Uuuuummmmmm, Paula, I am very happy that you are recovering nicely and that swelling will go down and you will have a beautiful, flat tummy, I promise. Having said that, may I request that given the graphic nature of your post, you instead offer people to write you off-site to get the gritty details? This was way over the top in terms of 'too much information' - might even be in conflict with OH posting protocol. My best for a speedy recovery, M.

Thanks Rennie, I'll try to watch it. The pain was just awful and I'm just trying to help anyone else out there, but your advise is well taken. Thank you.

I for one appreciate the nitty gritty details. In order to fully comprehend what you are getting into with a procedure like this you NEED to know the good the bad and the ugly. Thank you for posting your experience and for preceeding it with the graphic warning. Happy Healing! ~Beth

Thank you Beth. I started to post on the plastic message board. I know there a those that are sensitive to graphic discussions, and lord knows I can get colorful. If I can save one person from the pain I had it is all worth it, but I mus****ch the tone, I guess. I too have learned much from the "nitty gritty" details. Wish you all the best. I go back to the doctor Wednesday, I hope the drains come out, they and starting to itch and pull. Be well.

Wow Paula....I get the same results from 1 laxative and a few 'sugar free' candies that have the sugar alcohols...
