Hi Julie, Calm down, Liquids will flow through fairly easily. Have to remember that. Its up to you to control your intake of Calories. Thats why a lot of us water load. Sometimes when your body is thirsty it feels like hunger. Its important that you grab for the water, or Crystal Light before you reach for food. Take care and be patient.. Enjoy your "Journey"
Your pouch function is not fully developed. It takes time. You will not feel much of anything at this point- fullness, hunger or anything... (if you feel hungry- it's most likely from you head- OR that you're actually thirsty- a feeling which we often confuse for hunger) Your pouch needs to heal and develop sensation. Even when it does- NOTHING will feel the same as you remember. It all changes- the feeling of full isn't the same nor is the feeling of hungry...
Your pouch is too young for water loading- it won't help at this point. But, do read up on it- because it will be a elpful tool for you in the future when hunger becomes a real issue.
You really need to concentrate on the specific guidelines that your DR gave you for post surgery consumption an follow them TO THE LETTER - especially in terms of what quantity to take in.
For example (an this is just me) I would not have eaten over a period of 20 minutes at a week post op. A meal took about 5 minutes of a controlled 1 to 2 oz of food/liquid and then I cut myself off, not matter how I felt. But, that was according to MY DR's program. A can of soup would have taken me two days to eat, in controlled restricted quantities.
Sounds like a LONG toalk with your DR and a F/U with your Nut. is in order!
Hang in there though- it gets easier!
Best
Lisa
DISCLAIMER- I'm talking about RNY PT's here, not lapband- so I'm guessing that you had RNY. Not sure... but same advice- follow written guiselines talk to you DR and Nut. still apply to Lap.
