Dr Barba good or bad 1 0n 1
Im in the process of tring to get the lapband I know Dr B is a good caring Dr for sure but I wanna know if this is the right decision for me you see I have struggle with weight issues all my life Im in my 30's about 5'1 210 pounds my lowest weight was about 135 before I had my child I gained 80-85 pounds with my pregnancy was only able to loose about 25 pounds after my child was born and kept only 10 pounds off for the past 5 years I have tried so many diets so far nothing has work is there any one out there in CT that has had the lapband with Dr Barba any regrets let me know please .
No regrets.
I am frustrated with how slow this process is, but I do not regret getting the WLS.
I wi**** were faster but have faith that I will get to my destination eventually.
With the RNY you have to lose weight at the beginning - you don't have a choice, however, if you don't change your ways you will gain it back. With the lap band you have to change your ways otherwise you dont' lose. Pay me now or pay me later - either way you have to pay......... statistically people with both types of operations end up at the same weight within 3 years - but we are all individuals and not statistics, so that really doesn't matter too much ya' know?
WLS is not magic - all the things that you need to do still need to be done, eat right, exercise and drink water. WLS just is a helping aid in the battle of obesity.
Some people getting the lap band lose weight very quickly - go to the lap band forum and you'll see a bunch of different views and there is also a regrets forum here that is good to check out.
As far as specifically asking about Dr. Barba - he is a competent surgeon in my eyes. He does have his lap band patients get their follow up fills with Honor but if you insist on the appointment being with him you can. His office staff has had a high turn over rate since I've been involved with them, there are always different people every time I go........
Best of luck to you!
Tammy
I wish I could give you more feedback but I've just started down this path. I've chosen Dr. Barba and am currently going threw all the testing and what not... Part of why I went with him was location and convenience and the other was I like him, he seemed thourough (sp?) and I liked his answers to everyones questions, good bed side manner so far and seemed very knowledegable (sorry my spelling stinks today). I met the nutrionist and some of his staff on my first office visit and they were great, the doctors he recommend so far have been very nice, understnanding and supportive. I didn't feel like another fat person going into their office ot do the test, but more a patient looking for help in overcoming a condition and seeking their help and support and i got just that.....
I think it has to do with what you feel about it, are you comfortable with him. Do you feel you can talk to him and his staff. There are other doctors out there and you can go to their seminars and get a feel for them, plus ask on here for others opinions and then make a decision on what you want to do... whatever it is ... be informed and when you feel its the right one then its the right choice
I'll let you know more as I go along...
