My surgery is Wednesday and I'm beginning to feel the anxiety! I think I've cried at least once for the past couple days and I can't tell you why. I'm not sad about the surgery and I'm not really scared. Well, I am a little. I'm really excited about my new life, but I've just got all these wacky emotions going on and I'm driving myself and my poor husband nuts. Sometimes I think, "I can't believe I'm going to do this to myself" and other times I think "I can't WAIT until I do this to myself!" What a rollercoaster! Can Thursday please hurry up and get here so I don't have to worry about this surgery anymore?!?!? I'm tired of thinking about it!!!! Just venting, but hoping these feelings are normal and I'm not the only one who has had them??? Thanks, Michelle

Michelle, of course your feelings are normal, anyone who wasn't just a little bit anxious would be the one that was not normal. WLS is a really big thing, surgery is scary but the rewards afterwards when you start losing weight will be worth everything you have been through. Wednesday will be here before you know it and you will have joined all us on the losers bench. All the best to you on your weight loss journey. Sher

Take a deep breath. It's a very big decision to rearrange the plumbing, but I'm sure as most of us post ops can attest to, at the end of the day you would do it again in a NY minute. Best of luck, be brave and look forward to a much healthier life. I wish you a speedy recovery and an easy time adjusting to your new relationship with food. All the best.

Well...this is ALL normal....When I felt like this in the last prior to my surgery, I went out for a brisk walk. It brought my emotions right down and cleared my head. It didn't matter if it was 10pm, I went. Try to distract yourself with other things other than surgery and stay OFF the OH boards this week, except to read your surgery support page. You don't need anything possibly negative to read... paula

Michelle, you are going to do so well! It sounds as if you have great support at home, which is a huge factor in your success. You are in the very best of hands (literally!) with Dr. A., he is really terrific. Some of the emotions you're feeling, I believe, have to do with loss - let's face it, food has been a constant source of comfort to you for many years, it's how we got to be the size we found ourselves at when we decided surgery was the only recourse left to us to embrace a healthy life. Doing the "head" work must happen if we are to achieve physical health. The fact that you are aware of your feelings and emotions is a signal that you are preparing yourself psychologically for the enormous changes you are about to undergo - it's a good thing! Be well, be calm, be centered, and do just what the good doctor tells you to do. All the best, Michelle. Take care, M.
