Introducing myself
Hi everyone. My name is Joanne, and I've sort of been lurking here for the past several months. After struggling with weight and yo-yo dieting my entire life, I finally started looking into bariatric surgery (along with my sister) about a year ago. I did some research on the internet and frequented this site a lot. Then last December I finally went to a seminar given by Fairfield County Bariatrics. After the seminar, I knew that the Lap Band was right for me. I had my first consultation with Dr. Neil Floch in early January, after confirming my insurance benefits. Then I started with all my visits to the various doctors. I got my insurance approval in mid-February and had my surgery on March 20. It's hard to believe that it's only been 4 days since surgery and I feel so good. I'm only a little sore now. I was really good about the 2-weeks pre-op 1000 calorie diet and 2 days of clear liquids, so I've already lost a decent amount of weight. At my initial consultation in January I was 241 (I'm 5'4"), and as of this morning, I am 226. I feel really good and very motivated. My sister was moving along the same time-line as I am and we were so excited to go through the whole process together. Sadly, right around the time we got our insurance approvals, she got pneumonia, so her surgery had to be put off until May. But I am happy to be her trailblazer and her support. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and to sharing our journeys with all their ups and downs.
Hi Joanne,
Welcome to the board as well as a new member of Fairfield County Bariatrics. I will be 2 years post-op next month and I had my surgery with Dr. N. Floch. I can't say one negative thing about him. Personally- I adore him for the fact that he helped me save my life. He is a wonderful surgeon and the whole group is great!! I wish you the best of luck on your journey.
