Hi skinnies - I am 3 weeks post op - today. Is it normal to be so gurgly - I feel it for about 45 mins in my throat and chest area - as well as sporadic burps (which always feel so good) - am I eating too quickly? Too much? I hope this goes away - it's embarassing while I am at work.

Hi Julie, I had my lap band 2 days ago and boy am I burping and gurgling ! Lots of gas, too. I hear it gets much better. I had my surgery with Dr. Tishler in Hartford. Still can't believe I did it! I'm hoping for a large, sustained weight loss and a healthier, happier life. Barbara

I am not sure what you are describing but if you are not uncomfortable and things are staying down alright I wouldn't worry. When I have eaten too fast I usually get a very uncomfortable pressure/full feeling in my pouch area, and sometimes I will get nauseous and need to give it up. I'm sorry if this doesn't help you. welcome to the loser's bench. Sher

you need to chew well, drink slowly and not from a straw, and yes, it takes some time to adjust. Sounds like you may be eating/drinking too fast if you feel discomfort in the esophogeal area. Try warm liquids- I find warm teas break up the gas better. And don't be embarassed to have to belch at work, better than flatulence......

I had to laugh not at you but because I am at my desk right now and the sounds coming from my stomach WOW!!! the rolling sounds  They do go away for me after I drink room temp. water slowly. Good Luck and Welcome to a great journey.  I to go to Dr. Tishler.
