I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I , like many others, have been reading your posts for months now, and have gotten the courage to jump in and introduce myself. My surgery is scheduled for March 12 and as that day grows nearer, I am getting more and more nervous. Then to add even more stress, my fiance of almost 2 years walk out on me Weds . Nothing says lovin' like coming home and finding out he packed his things up and moved. (sarcasm over whelms me right now) So between all the fears and tears these last few days I did a bad thing and went back to smoking. I know I shouldn't be smoking this close to my surgery, but it seems like the only thing that is keeping me sane and keeping me from stuffing my face with Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I sign my consent forms tomorrow (Monday) and have the endoscope Thursday ... wish me luck guys!

Hi Alyssa, My name is Trish and I had RNY 8 weeks ago. It's awful that your fiance left; he doesn't know what he's missing !!!!!! The important thing is to take care of yourself and get yourself physically and mentally prepared for the surgery. If you can, try to stop the smoking ASAP. Just remember, you have a lot of support here at the website My thoughts and prayers are with you as you count down the days to your new life. Take Care, Trish

Alyssa If there is one thing that you should do for yourself it is put the smokes down!!!!!!!!! I had stopped for my surgary and because of stress I started again and wish with all my heart that I didn't start again because I know have to stop AGAIN. You will find out that the surgary will be one of the best things that you will do for yourself. I know that the smoking(so we think)Helps with the stress. But do not do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have any ???? drop me and E-mail. Good Luck Beth

You have found the best place for support here. You have prolly seen my post about my hubby and the support I have here is amazing. If it wasn't for this site I probably wouln't be taking the steps I need to take to do this with out the hubby's support. This is an amazing site and the people on here are amazing as well. As far as the ex goes, one day you will look back on it and realize that yeah, it was tough then but you are better off now. I know from experience cause nothin says lovin like a cheatin man.

Welocme to the family Alyssa. I am fairly new here as well. Ithas been my experience that the folks on this board are more like family to me. They understand what I say and even what I don't say. I think support is the most important part of our treatment. I am praying for you.

Welcome - and best of luck to you! So sorry to hear about your fiance - that totally sucks! Ben and Jerry's is better for you then a smoke any day of the week...............I understand the addiction - I quit 5 years ago.........try to get rid of the habit before it becomes too ingrained in your life.......... Best of luck!

I want to say thank you to everyone that has taken time out of their busy day to send me words of encouragement! I have been feeling really down these past few days .. and everytime I have opened my email and found another email from OH it made me smile. And cry too, but a good kind of cry this time ... you guys don't even know me and you're sending much such love and good thoughts, and to know that perfect strangers out there think I'm worth their time to just say a few kind words .. well makes me feel all sorts of warm and fuzzies! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I have taken everyone's advice and have stopped smoking. I hope it's not too late now. I saw Dr. Valin yesterday and it looks like everythings right on track .. Thursday is the endoscopy and chest xrays ... OMG there's only 6 days to go , can't wait! Love to everyone! Alyssa
