Dr. Ralph Crum?
Hi everybody, I am interested in finding info about Dr. Crum, specifically his lap-band patients. He now lives in my hometown of Amarillo, TX, and I am planning to have a lap-band by him in about 2 weeks. My question is does anyone know him, and if so, how many lap-bands did he do in Conneticut? I know he seems to prefer the RNY. Any info anyone has would be great. Thanks.
I am unsure how many of Dr Crum's patience are on the boards.
I know a couple people who have had him as a surgeon....
my recommendation would be continue to seek out more info on this doctor
and keep looking for a great surgeon!....
feel free to email me if you would like to klnow more specifics on why I would encorage you to find a different doctor!
Dr. Crum is a tremendous surgeon and a great diagnostician. Plus, he has true insight into the issues which confront us in post-operative life. One of the issues that sets him apart from other surgeons is his attentiveness to patients should they develop any post-operative complications.
As for LapBanding, he did not perform the Lap Band while at Norwalk Hospital. It is a relatively straightforward procedure, particularly for someone who is a skilled bariatric laparoscopic surgeon. Also, he has performed many revisions of Lap Band to RNY so he is intimately aware of the problems that can result from Lap Band surgeries.
I was a very high-risk patient when he performed my RNY-- at my size, most surgeons would not even consider performing it laparoscopically. But Dr. Crum was able to perform it laparoscopically, and I was only on the table about 70 minutes.
If you'd like any other information about Dr. Crum, I would be more than happy to answer any email or provide the information to you in this public forum.
