2 year's post op wanting advice on vitamins and tiredness
Welcome Rachael,
Congratulations on your weight loss and maintaining it. First of all have you had any follow up with a bariatric surgeon in the last year? After one year post op and each year after we should be getting a follow up with the surgeon and have our labs checked.. There may be something that you specifically need to add as a supplement and would find out what that is after some blood tests. As for what I take, I take a multivitamin once a day, an iron supplement once a day, calcium, B12, and zinc. After a blood test they found I was lacking zinc so that was added to the list of supplements I was taking. Also are you getting in enough protien and water each day?
If you need names of surgeons in your area ask this board they will offer you names.
I hope if you haven't already seen a doctor here in Ct that you will soon and have things checked out. Don't wait too long. Your health is so important.

Hi Rachael, First off Welcome ! I'm just about 2 years post op and I take my b-12, a multi vitamen, some calcium and also vitamin C.. All of these are chewable with the exception of the B-12 I get that in a liquid from GNC. You may want to find a local doctor and have some blood work done to get an idea of what you may be lacking or not lacking. Now this surgery does different things to different people so that seems to me to be a good place to start! Best of luck and again Welcome to our board.
Hi Rachael,
WELCOME to CT!
I am post op 2 years also... and had simular feelings of fatigue....
turns out the labs show I am anemic,,, pretty low infact. I tried the Bariatric advangage Iron (29mg) 3x a day..... but that wasnt enough either....
my doctor sent me to a hemotologist (sp) and she now has me on a stronger once a day iron.... if all else fails, there is the iron infusion.....
so with all that said.... I would recommend you get some labs done...
(btw...my B12 was fine)
Go get them done, and feel better soon....
Feel free to email me if you wannt "chat" ([email protected])
Sweet Mammy
