Spring Gala
Hi, All!
It's less than 7 wks. until our 3rd annual WLS Spring Gala, so here's the info. again:
This is a fundraiser for ASBS. Money raised (along with money raised at our summer picnic) will be added to the money raised by the Walk from Obesity (to be held in Sept. 2007). Last year it contributed to CT raising more money than any other state!
Date: Saturday, March 31, 2007
Time: 7 p.m. - midnight
Location: Crowne Plaza, 100 Berlin Rd., Cromwell (seconds from Exit 21 off I-91... or several blocks from Rt. 9)
Cost: $25 per person
There'll be a DJ, cash bar and hot and cold hors d'oeuvres (with an emphasis on protein). For those who are compliant, there'll be sugar-free, caffeine-free, non-carbonated, non-alcoholic beverages available at the bar (besides water).
Last year there were a lot of people who said that they'd be attending and would get their tickets at the door who then didn't show up. When that happens, it not only affects how much money we raise, but (since we have to guarantee at least a certain number of people by 3 days before the dance) we can also end up losing money. So this year we have to be more insistent about people buying tickets in advance. Tickets are available at the Hamden and Middlesex support group meetings, at Dr. Aranow's office or from me. If you regularly attend a support group meeting other than Hamden or Middlesex and would like to sell tickets, please e-mail me. If you don't attend a support group where tickets are available, please e-mail me for my address so that you can mail me a check and I'll mail you back your tickets.
For anyone who'll be coming from further away (or just wants to stay over), we've arranged for a special room rate of only $109 (instead of $139). The Crowne Plaza features an indoor pool solarium, whirlpool and sauna, along with an in-house exercise facility, restaurant and lounge. For reservations, call the hotel directly at (860) 635-2000 or (800) 308-4589 and tell them that you'll be attending the American Society for Bariatric Surgery dance on Mar. 31st.
It's always a fun evening and a great opportunity to dress up (if you want) and spend time with the friends whom you don't get to see very often.
Debby
hi debby,
I have discussed this with my husband, and if I am medically sound at that point,we will be joining in on the fun that evening, however,we will not be staying overnight,,too many kids at home..I dont attend the support meetings so how do I get the tickets? please get back to me,,thanks,,cyndee
Hi Debby, haven't seen you in quite some time - don't get to the SG meetings like I used to; my husband and I are planning to go, missed it last year, and the year before that - I will get our tickets when I see Dr. A in March for my 3 year appt. (can't believe I'm even saying that!) - what is the typical dress for this event? I'd like to dress up but don't want to feel silly if I'm the only one. Take care, Maureen
Hi, Maureen!
I left the tickets with Liz, but I don't know if she has them or passed them on to someone else in Dr. A's office.
You definitely won't be the only one dressing up. Most of us look forward (now that we look better than we used to) to this annual opportunity to wear our fancy clothes and good jewelry. However there will be some who'd rather dress more casually, so that's OK, too. What matters is for each person to feel comfortable with their choice and that we all have a good time in each other's company.
Debby
