ok...time to catch everyone up.....
I have got a lot of PM's and e-mails checking on me....so I'll give you the story here so I dont have to type it 5x. LOL
ok.....so I decide that I hate my bathroom wallpaper. When I bought my house......they (the sellers) had all new fixtures in the bathroom, it was beautiful.....new vanity....new medicine cabinet with pretty etched glass mirrrors......a beautiful wall cabinet....and the sellers put all of this over OLD crappy wallpaper......so I have been eager to take it down for the year and a half I have owned it. Well I was finally feeling energetic enough to do it......so......we go to Home Dept to rent the steamer....and we go home and start to take off the paper....remind me to never put up wallpaper in my home so I NEVER have to take it down again!!! Anyways.....we get it all down..... and i see there is a spot on the dry wall behind the toilet/next to the shower, that has spots on it....so I cut it out being the perfectionist that I am....behind it I see tiles.....huh I'm thinking.....I take a few tiles down....more crappy dry wall....I take that down....and yucky insulation........so I totally demo'd my whole entire bathroom right down to the 2x4's. (smashing tile and walls with the demo/crow bar must have worked off lots of calories right?!?!
THANK THE HEAVENLY LORD the wood was totally fine, cause everything on top of it was MOLDY! So this has been my life lately. I have been smashing tiles......(yes I'm wearing a good mask and gloves) taking out rotten dry wall and disgusting tiles that have been all covered up for god knows how long.....why it never smelled is beyond me.......Who the hell would ever know whats under their walls.
Needless to say paiting is the furthest from my mind right now. I have gotten as far as the insulation all replaced...the new drywall is all up and taped and joint compound has been applied......this weekend....we actually got as far as the new shower walls.......I had to let the adhesive dry for 24 hours before caulking around the edges. So the mold started around the bottom of the shower walls at the top of the tub that wasnt sealed well from the old owers.......any guesses how many tubes of silicone sealant I bought from Home Depot this weekend??????? about 6 just for the tub. There will NOT be 1 inch thats not covered. I wont let 1 drop of water get behind those damn walls, believe you me. This has been a nightmare. I cant wait to go home and get out my caulk gun and shoot the **** out of every seam, corner, and edge of those new walls!!!
So thats been my life. I have NOT been watching what I've been eating AT ALL. My children have been living on whats quick and I've had a constant tension headache since the whole thing started. I hope to be able to use the bathroom in the next few days.....but for now we are using the bathroom in the finished basemenet which is where we have an in-law apt. Thank god for 2 bathrooms. We have 5 people in my house do I dont know what I'd do without that!!!
I did want to re-do the tub walls......eventually.......but this was just supposed to be a small painting project. I thank my lucky starts we found it before it got to be a bigger problem though. So maybe one day this month I will get to painting my new bathroom.....and I mean brand new everything!!!
I am a germ freak....my dad was like, Bree you dont have to buy new faucents and spouts etc......I was like dad, I want everything out of my house.....I bought EVERYTHING brand new! Even the shower curtain and that was not that old. LOL I wanted everything in the trash!!!
So after lots of money, blood, sweat, and tears, literally, I am back to working a normal work schedule, but my house is still upside down. I need a big bottle of some wine and lots of sleep!
I miss you all and have certainly NOT forgotten any of you.
Thanks for the concern, I am still here. I could never leave you guys!
Bree
