I'm joining a gym!

We have a complete full gym with all new equipment, personal trainers, weights, etc. at my work that is absolutely beautiful and absolutely FREE (for employees, family members and retirees). I have never wanted to take advantage of it.... I really don't like the idea of sweating with people I work with - but I'll learn to get over it - my friend at work (who had RNY bypass 2 years ago) is going to go with me after work. I'm committing to two days on the eliptical and then I'll do another two days on my bike at home. I am totally dreading doing this and want to psych myself up - I need to exercise so badly I am at a complete standstill for almost 6 months! Hopefully such a fun person to spend the time with will make all the difference in the world! Tammy

A Big "Atta Girl" Tammy! Wonderful that you take that first step. I know when I joined a gym 6 weeks after my surgery I was a little intimidated. That go's away quick as you realize what your doing you are doing for yourself as well as those you love! Best of luck and take it easy at first. Its not a race! It's a lifestyle adjustment! Know your going to love how you feel after the first week and the fruits of your labors will show up quickly! Take care and Best of luck!

Thank you Julio you always know how to be so encouraging and inspiring. I know you practice what you "preach" and your voice of experience is so appreciated! Thanks!

Tammy~ Everything J-man said is right on. I WAS not a natural exerciser unlike many from the get-go. It was hard for me to get into the swing of it. But having a hubby who is a personal trainer and the added example of many on the CT board ... thank you all for your patience and never giving up on me! - I finally found something that worked for me. Now? I actually look forward to exercising! And let me tell you... it WILL more than likely make a difference in your stall... and beyond that? you might feel a sense of lightness... find it easier to deal with stress and easier to stay on track with your food. That is how it helps me. Good luck. Have fun! We... everybody at the gym too, are all in this together. And don't be fooled by some of those "hunka-fied" babes and guys at the gym... they struggle too. I know for sure Kathy K will say "good going" when she reads your post. T.

Hey Tammy I am so proud of you for joining gym You will find more motive to do exercise at gym than home and your friend will be there to support and more fun! Also I am more happier that Terri C joined our new gym with Nancy K for Planet Fitness gym in our hometown. Terri / Nancy It will be fun and I promsie to help you to exercise for fun and talking same time WINK You will burn more calories if you increased cardio intake and build up firm and tone muscle on your body. Start to build up up to 15 min for starter then will increase later when you body is ready to accept more cardio intake When I see you then I will give you CONGRATS Hug!!! Kathy K
