Do you stink?
I've heard a lot of people mention that they're stinky when their body goes into Ketosis. Silly question, but what the heck do you smell like? Non-deodorized armpits? After the gym sweat? Just plain FUNK? I'm gearing up for surgery and really just want to know what to expect if I ever have the honor of being smelly too. How do you get rid of it? Or do you just have to hibernate in a closet with a bottle of Lysol?
Thanks!
Michelle
Michelle,
I don't recall Bob telling me that I actually "stunk"...but, he just said that he could smell a sweet but a not so attractive smell when I was around. When I was in full ketosis, my tongue got a thick coating of white junk on it, I felt like I could smell protein wherever I went and it really wasn't that bad.
The best thing to do during this time is to shower often with an antibacterial soap and get all of the "crevices" really clean...ie: under folds of fat, pits, privates, etc.
Don't worry your little head off, it won't be like you've been dumpster diving or anything like that!

Michelle, my DH told me my breath was bad at times. I know that was from the ketosis process. I didn't notice it myself, so you may have to ask someone close to you if you have a problem. I think drinking extra water might help flush things out some along with frequent mouth care , breath sprays or whatever.
I wouldn't worry too much.

whenever I played a diabetic coma victim for an EMT class I had to chew Juicy Fruit gum to mimic fruity ketosis breath LOL- I found that I needed to perform oral hygeine 3-4 times a day to keep my teeth from feeling fuzzy- hubby never mentioned anything funky- but your breath/mouth bars the brunt of it- definitely pack a toothbrush and toothpast and mouthwash for the hospital. That Dawn Mist brand leaves a bit to be desired.....
