3 WEEKS POST-OP TODAY
Hi Everyone !
How do you like this frigid weather ? I had a question about weight loss when you're 3 weeks out. At my pre-op with Dr. Floch, I weighed 334 (12/15/06).
On my surgery date, i weighed 317 (1/5/07 ). I weighed myself this morning and the scale showed 310. Is this good ? Should it be more ? I guess I'm questioning it because I start my Stage 4 diet today and as more foods are allowed, I'm scared of falling into bad habits again. I did get clearance today to start going back to the pool at the YMCA. You see, due to my OA in both knees, walking can be very painful
I also wanted to know if the weight loss that occurred prior to the surgery is something you count in your "lbs. lost " column ?
Any advice, thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated
Thanks and have a great weekend !
Trish

You count EVERY SINGLE ITTY BITTY POUND lost!
Including preop!
All part of the journey, right?
As for... and I have heard this questions lots of late...
I MY WEIGHT LOSS ENOUGH?
My simple answer is yes.
My qualified answer is give your body time.
Give your body time to heal and adjust to losing weight.
It will all work out in the long run.
I too felt the same way early on.
And my body proved to me that if I did what I was told, it would work.

My honor.
You may find yourself doing the very same in the future.
If it had not been for the kind-hearted folks that I met in my support groups and here on OH and the CT forum folks, my journey would have been harder. I was sheparded by some of the most gentle and guiding people when I was so new and so afraid of
"messing this thing up".
One day at a time, you will make your way to a rhythm that works.

Personally I count every pound lost. Really, those pre-op pounds were harder to get of than the initial post -op pounds. As far as wether you have lost enough..Yes...Also don'tbe surprised if you reach a stall. Around the 3 or 4 weeks mark I stalled. It was my body's way of catching up to me... I hear that can be common...Of course, everybody's journey is different,,
But sound like you are doing very well..Good Luck on your Journey!
Hi Trish
Trish Like they say every pound does count. I understand your concern. But it will get better.
I had my surgery on Dec.11 2006.I had my fill of chocolate shakes yogurt, pureed meat..vitamans etc.for about a week I did not even want to eat at all. I am on stage 5 now and it is going a little better, thank god.I was in the hospital for 5 days, then home for 4. Then I had to go back in the hospital for 5 more days because I had an infection were my incision was, they put me on i.v.S for the second week.
It was a struggle at first but I am coming along a little better now. I am so Happy that I had the gastric bypass. To date I have lost 58 pounds.I feel so much better.I was 356.4. om the day of my surgery. It does take a lot of willpower.
In stage 5 I have 2 oz. of meat at each meal 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup starch 2 fruits and 2-8 oz. glasses of milk.I counted 25 pieces of elbow macaroni the other day, and that was all I could tolerate!
This is all quite an expierence!
Good luck to you and you have done well so far.keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. If I can be of any help what so ever, let me know.
