Hey there, Just a question for all you post-ops...What did you do when you just couldn't stop losing weight? My Dr. informed me a few months ago that I shouldn't lose any more weight (that's when I was weighing 180.) Now I weigh 160. I am NOT complaing at all. However, my Dr. told me that I have about 20-25 pounds of extra skin. So, if I weigh 160 and 25 pounds of that is skin then my real weight should be 135. My ideal weight according to the BMI chart is 138. Am I losing to much? I am happy about the loss but I am starting to look like a skeleton from my neck to just under my chest. My bones are sticking out and I think I look ill. I did call the Dr. and was informed to increase my calories and protein. If any of you have any suggestions I welcome them with open (bat wingged) arms Thanks! Christine

Hi Christine. I know GNC sells weight gainer powder that you mix with water or milk that should help you get some of that weight back.Sounds like your diet may need a little fine tuning. Maybe you should have a talk with your "Nutritionist " so she can help you with a long term solution. Take Care and Best of Luck!

I am in the same boat now except I was down to 106. I am being threatened very heavily with a feeding tube. I have weigh ins with Dr. Valin. I'm up to 113 and have decided if I can't keep the weight going up I will voluntarily get the feeding tube. I am personally dealing with a lot of other health issues and am just not hungry, so I forget to eat. Very dangerous with this surgery. I do not like the way I look and want to put the weight back on. I was told to eat whatever it takes. Listen to your Dr. They do know best. Maggie

I just can't even imagine what a mind trip it must be for you to be on the completely other end of the spectrum then when your journey began. If someone ever said "you will eventually end up having to make yourself eat" before the journey began you probably would have said - "YES" but now that you actually have to walk in those shoes - how hard psychologically for you is it? Is it easier being fat and not being able to lose weight, or being thin and not being able to gain - or are they equally as distressing? I tend to think being thin has much more advantages - but I'm not there (yet!). I really hope you don't have to get a feeding tube Maggie and I hope your other health issues will get resolved. You are in my prayers. Tammy

Before you go out and invest in a lot of weight gaining shakes, etc. Call your plan dietitian and get an appointment. They will be able to set up an eating plan for you that will incorporate the necessary "good" foods that will turn the weight loss around and stop your loss... Please do this soon. You don't want to malnurish yourself and end up in the hospital or worse. Good luck to you. Paula
