> I FINALLY got put on Lantus (an insulin) and I can't WAIT to get things under control! I'm going to make sure I continue to document all my readings (3-6 times a day) so that when they do come down, I'll have something to show Dr. Aranow. I know it will take a while, to get my A1C down but such is life. What I would like to know is how long it takes for the Lantus to kick in and start lowering my blood glucose? In other words, when will I be able to tell whether or not it is working? > In addition to lowering my HBa1c, I have to do the psych eval on 2/14 and see the dietician for a second visit the same day, an upper endoscopy (initial consultation is Monday 1/ 22), and a gallbladder ultrasound on 2/2. Of course, I need to lose the 10LBS also, but that was a given. > I've found the South Beach Wrap Kits are pretty good. Their other meals are pretty good too, with the exception of the "Savory Pork" and "Savory Beef" (...frankly, they're not too frickin' SAVORY if you know what I mean...unless of course you like a little fat and gristle with your meat)! In any case, overall, the quality is much better than "Healthy Choice" or "Lean Cuisine". The meat is generally tender and not processed, and they are flavorful. This is, of course, my opinion. However, they are also lower in carbs! > You all have been so supportive and made my journey thus far, not only bearable, but a lot more enjoyable, than if I were traveling alone! *********THANK YOU ALL!!!********* Deb

Hi, I guess I'm moving right along with you, I have an appt with the nut on Jan 25th, and then my psych eval on Feb 7th, right now I take lantus in the evening just before I go to bed and that is considered a 24 hr insulin. Meaning it works over a 24 hr period. I also take Novolin 70/30 in the morning, this one acts within 15 to 20 minutes, and I also take four pills a day. I'm hoping that after WLS,, I will no longer have to do all this. I'm going through Dr. Bells office. Good luck and feel free to email me any time [email protected] I'm in the New Haven area.
