Hi! I'm new here...also, a question about Dr. Barba
My name is Bev,
A kind hello to all of you,
I'm so happy that there are boards by state here...this site is so wonderful!
I've had all my preop stuff done, and expect to hear from Dr. Barba as soon as he receives my sleep study/pulmonary reports (any day now).
I'm concerned because i'd not heard anything derogetory about Dr. Barba until i started reading here...
What are the issues some ppl are having with him?
Just to clarify, is it his staff? bedside manner? availability to answer post op questions? I ask because, being sooo close to the surgical part of this journey, I'd like to have all the information i can get BEFORE hand... If anyone has feedback, please take the time to type a reply (even if it's a short reply!!)
thank you in advance for your replies....
I'm looking forward to making new friends here in this wonderful supportive community...
thanks!

Welcome to our home away from home. I have found the people here are wonderful and supportive. I don't comment too much since I am still very pre-op (my seminar date is next month) and I am having surgery next week (1-18) for carpel tunnel and I don't respond to much of anything, including emails.
I have a friend who went to him (she looks great let me tell you) and she loved him and never said anything bad about him when I asked her where she went for surgery and who her doctor was.
Thank you all for your replies
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all....
A little about me, i am an RN in souteastern Ct.....I have a son who is 17, and a partner whom i've been with for nearly 12 years now...both are supportive of me, but while they are very supportive, they don't really understand the hows and whys of my decision to have this surgery.... so i am happy to be able to come here and share and learn...
thanks again
Bevi

I can not address the Dr Barba question I had Dr Aranow and I adore him like everyone else who has had him.
I can tell you that my adult children and partner all thought I was crazy to have the surgery. My mother and sister were totally against it too. No one at work knew I was having the surgery either. After I had told them that I was thinking about it I no longer talked about it to them until 2 weeks before I had it! They all thought I had forgotten about it.
I did that because I needed to make my decisions based on how I felt and the research that I did. Boy I dont need to tell you how pissed off everyone was at me that two weeks ahead! hahaha I kept telling them that they needed to trust my judgement and my researching.
almost 3 years out now and I am thrilled. Family was still ticked off when I went in. My daughter stayed with me in the waiting room before the surgery and 15 minutes before I went in she told me look we can walk right out of here right now and no one would think anything bad about it. I said shellie I'm so ready for this. I need this to live the rest of my life healthy and happy.
Mine was a success. I'm healthy! happy! it was the very best thing I ever did for my life.
My kids don't remember the fat me anymore. its odd to come across a picture of me from before. While they all feel I could have done it without surgery, (HA!) they are all happy that I am doing so well. My daughter loves it that we shop in the same stores! My sons like saying to their buddies HEY thats my mom stop lookign at her! hahaha ANd the very best thing of all was seeing my ex hubby for the first time in 10 years and seeing his mouth drop. HAHAHA
Good luck and god bless, pammy
