It has be almost a month since my lap band and almost two weeks now where I haven't lost a pound. In fact according to the scale I gained a pound. I don't get it I am barely eating. There has only been two times I ate a little more that a 1/4 cup of food. My choices are what I am allowed to follow. I even started working out about a week ago. What am I doing wrong? I am starting to get the feling like this could be a mistake. What do lap bannders do when you can't lose. How much less can you eat? I only eat 3- 4 times 1/4 food? Have any of you had this problem?

Hi Marcia, I think we have to realize that the first 6 weeks is about healing and not losing weight. If weight is lost, it is an extra. If you are really concerned, I would call the doc or nut. to discuss your concern. I have found that when I don't eat enough protein, my weight loss comes to a halt. Your metabolism will slow down to nothing if you are not gettting enough protein. The other question to ask yourself is are you getting as much exercise as you can. The exercise will definitely help your metabolism kick in. I would also suggest posting your question on the lap band board. There are a few lap banders from CT and they are supportive but it depends who is on and reading your post here. I would definitely consider talking to your doc/nut. because he/she will have the real answers for you. I can only speak from what i know about myself. Good Luck! Nancy K

Hi - The important word to keep in mind is AVERAGE - sometimes you can lose 2 or 3 pounds in one week and nothing the next - that would average out to 1 or 1.5 pounds per week. Don't look at your weight loss weekly if you can help it because it might drive you crazy (it does me). If you are barely eating anything then you could be slowing your metabolism down so much that everything you do eat is just being put away as storage. You haven't even had a fill yet so the losing part of the band journey doesn't really begin until you get the right restriction - being only a month out you need to just concentrate on healing - don't work out too hard just yet - moderate movement is really good for you though. It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. Good luck! Tammy
