Hello Everybody, My good freind asked me to help her for her research (to relate her class for PSYCH course). She asked me if I become addictive after had gastric bypass. I told her yes! I become exercise addictive to replace my food emotion behavisor and little shopping addictive too to enjoy buing new clothes without worrying not fitting me. Make senses!! Please help me feel free to input for my friend for her research. I know some people deal with addictive behaviors for shopping, food, gambling, exercise, sex active , eating disorders , obsessive and alcoholiam. Just say we know someone who is.... not metion about yourself. Thank you for your helping to input for my friend's research. Hugs Kathy K

I know somebody who went from eating to drinking post op. Now using a 12 step program to manage that. And I might add at this juncture that we all could benefit from the 12 step principles. They work for us as well. I take it that you will be passing along this info to your friend? Tootles. T.

Thought I personally feel that I've actually "given up" some of my other addictions along with food since surgery. (like shopping)...I know of two people that had surgery and one is now switched his addiction for food for alcohol...and the other has switched her eating for shopping. Neither can stop and it seems to be getting out of control...sad Where I used to go out and buy, buy, buy anything that had a sale ticket on it cause I needed to feed my depression for being SO obese (then come home, still unsatisified and eat a lot) I find myself not wanting to shop that much. I don't even go out an buy too many clothes now. I'm satisified with being able to buy off the rack when I want to and that's good enough for me! Paula

I've always had some kind of thing that I would go crazy about. that old additive behavior. it was and still is food. just switched from being high sugar and eating constantly to being nuts about no sugar and watching what i eat. does that make sense? i also have always been a shopper. still am. i love going clothes shopping now. its so much fun. but i've always been careful about spending and usually shop thrift stores and sales racks. i want as much as i can get for my money. there is one thing i am addicted to right now that i've got to stop. its those rotten tic tac mints. i will eat 3 of the little packages of them a day! thats rediculous. i might not put alot of weight back on but it doesn't help having those senseless calories spent on them instead of an apple or cheese stick that would be better for me. but noOOOooo i have to have the tic tacs. i'm home today son is sick and needs some help so i'm going to work at kicking the tic tacs!
