Hi Everyone I had my RNY on Friday and it went very well ! Dr. Floch was very pleased that I had lost 17 lbs. prior to the surgery; he said it really helps in the operation. Surgery was 3 1/2 hours long and I really was not in much discomfort. I am already sick of Jello and chicken broth !!! The test that is done to check for leaks was not fun at all ( I'll post later about that experience) Everything checked out fine so I came home Sunday afternoon. I am having a lot of trouble getting in the ounce every 15 minutes ; I'm feeling soooooofull that it almost feels like it will come back up. Any suggestions on how to deal with this ??? Thanks for all of your love and support Trish

Welcome home and congratulations! That ounce every 15 minutes is very hard at first - just do the best you can - sip slow and perhaps try room temperature liquid or warm! Hope you heal quickly! Best Regards, Tammy

Welcome Home!!! I had no trouble with getting my liquids in because I was sooooooooo thirsty. I actually called my doc to see if it was ok if I got in more than recomended! Just know that it will get easier with time. I hope you continue to have an easy time with the pain and post if you have any questions! Buffy

Welcome Home Trish! You take good care of that new baby "pouch" of yours and it will take care of you! As far as feeling so full try eating everything with a baby spoon. Its a good way to slow you down eating wise which is mandatory for us Post ops! So take it easy and WELCOME!!! to te "Losing Side"!

Trish I was thinking about you. I am glad you are home and well. Yes it is hard at 1st. I do think we have different post-op diets right after surgery, but us bandsters need to do lots of liquids too, and I was with you. I was so sick of liquid, it made me feel full.....but look at it this way....at least you are not starving anymore. Take care and stay well. Bree

Keep your fluids with you at all times, initially I used a 1 oz medicine cup to measure and found by using that it didn't seem so bad and I could sip from that over the 15 minutes and refill. Watch the color of your urine as long as it is a clear pale yellow that most likely means you are getting in enough fluids. Things will get easier gradually. Just stay the course. If you get too weak, lightheaded, dizzy and see a decrease in the amount of urine or that it is dark yellow in color you might be having signs of dehydration and need to call your doctor. Hang in there Sher
