i have a cold. i dont' like haivng a cold. since i had the surgery i don't get sick like i use to. i was always sick with broncitis or phnomia anything anytype of flus colds sinus infections. now its just usually one time ayear that i'll pick something up. well right now i have a cold that has gotten to the point where if it wasn't a friday i'd be calling out sick. i can make this day but whew i'm planning on leaving early if i can get my things done. you know no one wants to see you at work when your not feeling just right. they'll be begging me to leave! but O NO I want to appear to be the perfect employee! I'll suffer through the morning..sneezing...sniffling...eyes all watery...carrying a big old box of tissues! smelling like vicks vapor rub and cough drops. this post is as much for alittle sympathy please! and any hints on what you do when you have a cold. I'm drinking alot of hot tea to keep hydrated. it also helps keep thing clearer in my head, nose, & throat. i avoide honey but will suck on a sugar freehoney cough drop. i'm tryign to stay away as long as possible from perscriptions. ever try those nose strips? i've used them at night and they seem to help. so tell me your hints please?

Pamela: You are in the same boat with I would guess... about 50% of us these days. Been trying to get rid of a virus for almost 2 weeks now. I take the following to support my body: Airborne Emergen-C Zicam They help. T.

Hi Pam. I am sorry you have the old cold thing. I guess its that time of year. it seems as if you are doing what you need to. My husband has used those nose strips and says they don't work for him. How about saline nose drops? And do go home early and just do nothing. keep in mind you are probably infecting your coworkers if you haven't already. Sometimes that is a good thing. Just Kidding! Rest Rest and more rest. Funny, other than the liver abcesses and other weird things, I have not had a cold since a year before my surgery. I hope I didn't just jinx myself. Feel better. Linnie

okay so you know how the teens are drinking dextromorthopan (did I spell that right?) - basically robitussin regular cough syrup- to get a buzz? Well let me tell you something- I had a dose of it the other day for my cough and I was HIGH AS A KITE- man I was one happy puppy stoned out on cough syrup. Gotta be the bypass.....never happened pre op.....

crap///that is all i have to say about that..... Well, maybe not all...lol I had a nasty cold for about 3 weeks last month...it was not pretty....I am thinking this unseasonably warm weather is the contributing factor.....hang in there...otc stuff works well for me, just gotta be careful to get meds for only the symptoms I am having...so, may want to stay away for the "multi-sympton" cold and flu stuff...the lees meds you put in your system, the better (imho) ooooh, and I SWEAR, going to the chiropractor to get adjusted helps my family not get sick as often...

Hope you're feeling better soon - if not - don't mess around! My son just got diagnosed with pneumonia yesterday and his symptoms were not that severe at all - no fever, he was eating, had plenty energy, sleeping fine and his cough wasn't that bad - but he said he had chest pain and he looked like he was going to pass out on Thursday night - after less then 5 minutes he was absolutely fine. Also, a friend of mine had double pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital - she said the doctors told her there is a really weird pneumonia they have been seeing since fall - anyway my husband has been fighting a cold since Thanksgiving and is now on his second round of antibiotics - I am nagging him to go for a chest X-Ray to rule out pneumonia............just take good care and don't worry about being the perfect employee or trying to stay away from prescriptions........do whatever you need to in order to heal! If it is a "normal" cold - make some chicken soup - that always helps! Be Well, Tammy

My son had pnomian 3 weeks ago with no warning either! it was strange he was complaining about his chest hurting too. I took him to the emergency room becasue he looked so pale and was having a hard time taking a deep breathe. They did the xrays and told him to get home gave him anote to stay out of work for a week. The poor guy (27) had just started this job 3 months ago was he stressing about that! Then he went back to work after that week and was out another week with broncitis!!!! this thing does not go away. its the darn weather. as much as i am happy not to have snow (i have to drive for work and hate doing it in the snow) i wish we would get some and for it to get colder and kill off all these germs. I think I will call the doctor in the morning on monday to be checked out. I was feeling better yesterday but now I just feel like yucky again.

I hope you start feeling better soon!! I'm a huge fan of Airborne also. It really feels like a kick in the pants when you aren't feeling like yourself. I don't know how much it really helps ward off colds, but it seems to help somewhat! FEEL BETTER SOON! Tammy
