Hello OH family. Thank you so much for your support. The wls itself was not that bad. I was prepared for the absolute worst. One thing that a lot of people did not mention was that blood thinner shoot. It was painful. I was advised not to use a sippy cup. I had the one 0-6mo. (Little to no air) I am able to sleep in my bed without problems. Challenges Eveything is tooooooooo sweeeeeet. water is just nasty I am going to just man up and get the fluids in. My angel has been the absolute best! She has been there every step of the way. PRICELESS Just PRICELESS

It must feel good to be home and sleep in your own bed. It was good to hear things went well. Isn't it strange how tastes can change. They will change again. Hang in there things will get easier. Sher

Welcome back Joann....Good to hear all went well...Yeah, I forgot about that blood thinner shot....ouch!!!..... If things seem too sweet, could you try something like a little bit of tomato soup with some non-flavored protein powder?? should be ok (but of course, follow YOUR doctor's guidelines)....Really helped me in the beginning when I hated that "sweet" taste...also low sodium v8......can add a little protein to that too.... I still hate water to this day.........if you use other things to get the fluids in, be careful. remember that this early out your body may be very sensitive to caffeine...even decaf coffee gave me scary heart palpitations at about 2 weeks out...brrrr Congratulations Love, Dorota

Hi Joann, I'm surprised that your surgeon didn't tell you that you'd be having these shots. I guess as time goes by for us, we forget about them. I know that when I went to the pre op class at Middlesex Hospital, they told us about them and Dr Aranow also tells his patients about them. Heal well and enjoy the holidays. You don't have to use a sippy cup to drink. Use a regular cup and just take small sips. Flavor your water with Crystal lite or brew decaf iced tea with splenda/artificial sweetener. So many WLS patients can't tolerate water right out cause of the staple lines healing and possibly the different ph levels in differen****ers. As long as it's calorie free beverage, it counts as your fluid for the day. Get in 65 oz at least. If you get unflavored protein powder, like Unjury (www.unjury.com) and others available at GNC, etc. Get protein isolate, it's the easiest and tastes the best. You can put it in broth for something salty. I still have bouillion broth w/ unjury in it for comfort when I feel ill. Just make sure the broth is not too hot...more like 130 degrees, before you add the protein powder...it'll curdle like eggs if it's too hot! If you have any other questions...just yell...someone will answer with some advise! Hang in there.. Paula ps. who was your surgeon?

I have the unjury. I am doing well. Pushing the fluids is going to be more than a notion. I will push through. I understand that each meal has a direct effect on my life. I must now do my part and stay healthy. Thanks Joann

Dr E told me, "We are going to give you a little blood thinner." I guess he did not know I was going to be harpooned like a whale. lol
