HEY FROM CONNECTICUT
I noticed you're from Vernon. Is Middletown too far for you to travel? Dr. Aranow is very much worth checking out. I live in Norwich but I picked him hands down over anyone else in the state. Go to his informational session and see what you think. It's free, informative, and will give you an opportunity to ask questions. He may, or may not, be the doctor YOU would choose, but if you don't go, you won't know.
Take care and good luck in your search!

Mike,
Hi, I had gastric bypass on 10/16/06 with Dr. Tishler. He is affiliated with Hartford Hospital and a really good surgeon. His office is wonderful and very dedicated to there work. It's called the Hartford Surgical Group. You can look up there information at hartfordhospital.com and click on Bariatric Surgery on the drop down bar. I did have a couple complications at the time of surgery and he was wonderful. He has a free seminar and wonderful group meetings for before and after. I wish you all the luck and if you have any questions, feel free to write me.

Hi Mike,
I had my RNY out of St. Francis hospital. Dr. Carlos Barba was my surgeon. My experience pre-op & post-op has been fine. I have heard some people on the board who also have Dr. B are having some issues with his current staffing & trying to reach him. (His office went through some major changes in staffing recently)
I'm blessed that I didn't have any complications (other than a hernia repair) and a little dehydration in the beginning, however when I did need assistance I was called back in a timely manner & felt that my needs were taken care of efficiently.
I go back in April for my 2nd anniversary check-up & will see how things go with him & staffing. If I find I'm not receiving the attention/follow-up I deserve as a patient than I won't hesitate to find a different gastric dr.
Good luck in your search, I would suggest attending Dr. Barba's seminar so you can get a feel for what kind of Dr. he is. It's a very informative session.
Mickey PS I'm in Vernon too.
