The average is supposed to be 1 to 2 pounds loss per week. Average is the key word - some weeks may be 4 pounds and then you can go 3 without any loss but that would average out to 1 pound a week. It is not a straight slope down and everyone has a different experience. Your loss could be greater or less then average depending on many variables. The food choices you make, the amount of exercise you do, the amount of water you drink, your age, your metabolism and a bunch of other things will determine what you'll lose. That being said, all the published information says 1 to 2 pounds a week average.
Good luck to you!

Hi Deborah,
I don't weigh myself weekly so I don't know what I average. i am a slow loser so I just take it day by day and try to stay on task. I have had many viruses and other health issues that have prevented me to be diligent about exercise other than walking and I think exercise plays a big role. I would ask you Dr. what he expects but I would bet he/she will tell you everyone is different but a pound a week is a good general rule.
Good luck on your journey!
Nancy
