Update on Pain
I would go right into his office and sit there until he sees you. What the heck? You paid this man for this surgery and if there's something going on now, he should follow it up with you...
Sounds like you may have an ulcer. Does it hurt even to drink water? I got an ulcer and Dr Aranow treated it for me. He called in prescriptions for me and then followed up with me the next day (it was the weekend).
You can't just "let it go". If they won't see you...Don't go to the ER either. They won't help you there. They have absolutely NO idea how to treat patients with WLS and you'll sit there for hours and hours with no results.
Have Barba's office (or your own PCP family doc) call you in an order for an upper GI series with a small bowel follow through...and to order you prescriptions for Carafate 1000mg twice a day and Prevacid solutabs twice a day.
Do a liquid diet for a couple of weeks. Nothing hard...You've got to calm things down in there...
Call Dr Aranow's office if you can't get anywhere. Maybe he'll take you on as a patient. He's the best (in my opinion) and doesn't treat his patients this way.
Also, put in a claim against him with the CT Board of Health, if you wish. He should not leave patients hanging like this.
This just ****** me off to hear things like this.
I hope you feel better.
Paula
Paula I really believe thats whats going on cause it so funny that you said that about the water cause thats what i keep saying to my hubby and family is why does it hurt when i swallow something as little as water? I am going to my family doc tomorrow and she is really great so hopefully she will help and i think i am gonna take u you up on that offer about dr aranow. yeah i am so pissed off about this. Thank you so much for you help i will keep everyone updated . huggs and kisses April
And then people ask me why I wouldn't reccomend him as a surgeon....he shouldn't be practicing. I am tired of holding my tongue on this issue. Let the truth be known...
Sweetheart run like hell from him. If you have a stricture this is an EMERGENCY. I suggest you get a new surgeon ASAP. Either Dr Tischler at HArtford Hosp or Dr Aranow at Middlesex. RUN LIKE HELL from Barba.
April - I hope you start to feel better soon, the same type of symptoms happened to my friend and she took that nexium and it helped. Even though she had her gall bladder out they suspected some gravel or something in the ducts left behind (or something like that) - anyway- it totally sucks that you can't get a response, that is just not right. I would talk to the new office manager about their process for call backs - everyone needs to be taken care of - regardles of the severity of the situation!
I hope this note is finding you in a better way and pain free!
