Dr. Barba keeps telling me it will past its normal I went to the ER before when I first had the surgery and I sat in the waiting room for 10 hours and the laid in the hallway on a stretcher for another 12 hours till they admitted me and did an endoscopy and seen I had a stricher and so you can see y I dont want to just go to the ER. I am sooo frustrated with that office That I cant handle it anymore. The pain goes away with some maalox for like 5-10 minutes but then comes right back. I dont know what else to do. I asked to speak directly with The Dr. and teh receptionist calls back and says he is too busy to call me back but just to wait it out. If its so normal, Then is it normal that I am not getting any thing in my system not my protein or any vitamins That I know is not normal. Well thanks for the advice April

I will keep my comments to myself about that office lately. Believe me I know how you feel about not being able to get a phone call back. I was in your shoes for 2 weeks. The bad thing is when I do get in touch with him, I do like him and I do feel he's a good surgeon and he knows what he's doing, but it sure doesnt make you feel important as a patient when he cant fit in a "call back" Keep calling them if you feel something is wrong! Keep me updated. Thanks, and take care. Bree

I have a friend who gets such bad gas pain that her husband pounds on her back to try to get relief. She has been black and blue more times than I care to imagine. She has no answer as to anything that will help either. Sorry Peter

Oh my god,,,That office sucks...You should not be left hanging like this. Please re-consider the ER if you can't get an answer from your doc...just bring a book with you to read while you wait.....This could be serious . I understand that you are hesitant to go to the ER, considering your past experience, but that may be your only option here at this point... Good luck and keep us updated. Dorota

When you had your surgery did they remove your gallbladder? Rapid weight loss can cause gallstones. I speak from experience when i say gallstone pain is no joke. When i got them after a diet that i lost 50 pounds in 60 days i thought i was dying and would have welcomed death. It was a stabbing burning pain right where both sides of the ribcage meet and went deep inside. Anyway the Doctor where i worked guessed that it was probably an ulcer and suggested maalox. Didn't help. So he said drink some milk, made it even worse. So i left work and went to a specialist and they discovered i was full of gallstones and they admitted me for emergency surgery. They said it was extremely swollen and i just made it in time, whatever that means. Anyway i would get it checked elsewhere ASAP if it were me.

Just another thought. When you go to the Dr. tomorrow ask them if they think they should do blood tests for pancreatitus. I had that 2 years ago from dieting also and they said that if you had gallstones before that you can still get them somehow and evidently one had gotten stuck in the common bile duct and caused it. Blood work will tell. That was a very similar pain and boy did it hurt.
