I sat in my car and just cried today
It took me months to get in to see a dermatologist for my constant belly rashes after loosing all the weight and maintaining for 2 years. I've been denied by CIGNA twice, and they wanted to see documented evidence of failed medical management for the rash. So, the dermatologist looks at it and said, "if you do what I tell you to do, it will not fail." So, CIGNA, you've got me. I'm giving up and have decided that if I really want this TT I will need to self-pay.
So, with that said, anyone know of a reasonable plastic surgeon in CT? Maybe someone who does this in office to lesson the cost?
Hi,
I just had my tummy tuck on Thursday and I paid $4600.00 with Dr. Thomson at the Yale Medical Group... but the price went up to $4800 to $5000. Since my first consult was back in March they honored the old price. You can always call for a consult and check him out... My experience with him has been great and on Wednesday I go back to see him and can share my results with you...

Hi Paula,
I had my TT & liposuction done in October with Colleen Jambor out of Enfield/Johnson Memorial. Total cost was $7,700 with everything included. (hospital stay, anesethia, & her fee.)
She's wonderful, easy to talk to & has alot of experience with WLS patients. If you'd like more info on her let me know.
Everything had to be paid up front 2 weeks prior to surgery.

:zap: Let me tell you about Cigna. In 2000 I got a blood clot in my pulmonary artery. I was living in Virginia at the time the event happened. Come to find out I needed an operation that could only be done by one Dr. This Dr was located at UCSD in La Jolla California, Dr Stewart Jamison. The operation I needed was a Pulmonary Thrombo-Endarterectomy (whew). At the time he was the only Dr in the world that could perform that surgery. This is non-trivial surgery, and should probably still be restricted to the relatively few institutions (and surgeons) with the relevant expertise. In the best centres (UCSD) the peri-operative mortality is now under 9%. I had two years to live without having this surgery. I was approved by my primary care Dr and flew out to California for my three week stay. The surgery was a huge success in the hands of Dr Jamison! The day I was released from the hospital and walking out the door, I was approached by a team member of the pulmonary unit. She said to me " I just want to let you know that Cigna denied your surgery." Then she said "The good news is at least you had it, keep on walking." My mouth dropped to the floor as I kept on walking. I fought Cigna for two years and ultimately had to go bankrupt. I had a $200,000 bill hanging over my head and Cigna wasn't budging. They told me that some other Dr in my HMO could have performed the same surgery. Yet they couldn't tell me who. My own Pulmonary Dr in Virginia said " I can perform the surgery, but you wouldn't want me to." To date UCSD has performed about 2000 of these operations. Thank God for Dr Jamison! Take heart in the fact that at least you had the weight loss surgery. I wish for you the very best.
