Him Deb, This "Journey" is all about changing our relationship witrh food. Be it something we fall back on when we were bored , or when we are upset,. WE teach ourselves that there are alternatives to eating to pass time or cope. THe trick is to find that one"Thing" that does it for us. Speaking for myself I have jus disconnected myself from food. I look at it as "Fuel", nothing more. I do not crave food. I just know I have to eat to function. When you find something that works for you it becomes alot easier. I'm sure we all slip on occassion, but we see we did and just dust ourselfs off and hop back onthe wagon. Take care and good LUck!
Hi! Im a little over 5 weeks out now and do find that I still get the urges at night to munch. late evening after dinner was my bad time. I usually just wind up doing a liquid....NSA hot cocoa, choco milk made w/ shim milk and sf choco syrup, or a sf popsicle. Calms the head hunger and helps me to get in all my fluids. I am changing my mindset to look at this as getting in the liquids not snacking....so that eventually my mind will crave the liquid at that time and not munchie type snacks.
None of us change our relationships with food overnight-- and none of us wake up from surgery suddenly devoid of all of those demons that lead us to turn to food. The trick is to try to find some healthier alternatives for those problem times when you would be most inclined to munch. For me, I saved my calcium citrtate for late night--in fact, I still do. Also, concentrated crystal lite worked well to curb appetite (I'm sipping it now), particularly late at night. At other times, I baked late at night (made me feel connected to food even though I had a strict "not-even-a-taste rule"), made coffee, kept a journal and developed a website.
Eventually, you'll find what's best for you. Good luck.
