On my other post my friend T. said that I am a force of life that sings a resounding YES. I love that! Especially since that is so different from the old me. Yesterday I had a conversation with an old friend. And he reminded me that before I had surgery, before I lost the weight, I was miserable. and it showed. I was in pain all the time, and my body language always showed it. I used to have this way I walked, with my head tilded to the side just a little. That's how he always knew I was having a bad day. Now he says I hold my head high, and walk straight. I know what he means,,, I WAS miserable before....It's true, I was always in pain. My back always hurt, My feet hurt, my hips hurt, my asthma made me miserable, my sleep apnea made me tired and cranky,,,, I had a wonder ful life, but I was not a participant in it. I was an observer. And I was always scared. I was scared that one night I would just stop breathing and not wake up. I was scared that my uncontrolable hypertension was destroying my kidneys and I would die. I was scared that my life was passing me by...without me in it... So, I am a force of life that sings a resounding YES. YES!!!!!! Life is amazing. Being healthy and STRONG is awesome. Not being in pain all the time is priceless My life now is so different. I LOVE being ALIVE!!!!!

I do think that believing in yourself is the key. Being able to imagine the possiblilitiy of something better....that is what makes me tick....Usually its a good thing...I am driven. And I take my inspiration from wherever I can find it...It is funny how sometimes we are inspired by the most unexpected things. And I have to say that many people here have inspired me. Reading profiles and seeing posts from OH members helps me get through the tougher times, helps me understand my struggles better,, and, in the end, helps me move on... So I am thankful for my life, and for you guys,,,,

Having a life,,,,and LIVING it...that is my reward, and I rejoice in it. It has not been an easy journey for me, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy, or we would not appreciate it. Thanks for everything T.

I do have so much to be greatful for. And, at the risk of sounding a bit vain, I am proud of my accomplishments. It has not been easy , I have struggled, but I have transformed my life. Of course, this is the "neverending story"...and since I consider myself to be a "work in progress", I will continue to work hard, and I hope to have the strength of character to never give up. I think we all should be proud of ourselves. Taking the step to have the surgery was not an easy one, I know how scary the prospect was for me. But each one of us has taken this leap of faith, and commited to making a change. In the end, whatever change one needs to make in ones life, taking that leap of faith is the most important step. So Nancy, Thank you for sharing your thoughts as well, and you too should be proud of your accomplishments.
