Hi Jeremy, Welcome to the OH Family. As you will see there are alot of wonderful people on this board. They are all very caring and supportive here. I dont know Dr. A personally but from what all my friends on this board say he is awesome. I met him at the walks and he seems to be a very wonderful man and a great doctor. I myself fought with obesity all my life. I was up to 325lbs and had pre diabetes and lots of medical problems. Since my surgery I am so much more healthier and happier. I got to throw out all my mediciations, and my energy level is amazing. It saved my life. I can do things now I was never able to do and I feel awesome. I hope all goes well for you and I wish you all the best on your journey to the losing side. God Bless Hugs KimC

Jeremy, Doctor Aranow is a fantastic surgeon...you are in great hands... Like you, I too had a lot of fears about WLs...It took me 2 years to decide to do it, and even then I was very scared...but I think it got to a point for me that it was more painful to stay the way I was then to have the surgery...I overcame my fear of WLS because my fear of death from co-morbidities was stronger...I feared for my life, being the weight I was, having the health problems I had.... Now, weightloss surgery is not to be taken lightly...It is major surgery you are considering, and you have to make sure you are ready...But for me it has been a life-saver.. and I am glad I had the courage to go through with it. And I do believe it takes courage...for each and every one of us...... When you start going to the support group meetings, consider going out to dinner with a bunch of the post ops afterwards...It gives you a perspective of life-after -WLS. Good Luck and hope to see you soon, Dorota

Welcome Jeremy - It's totally normal to have cold feet - afterall it is elective surgery - but think of if you had to have a pace maker to keep you alive - you'd do it in a heart beat (pun intended ).......Your struggle will continue unless you do something different - it may or may not be WLS - - but at least you're taking the first step (with those cold feet) to DO something - congratulations for starting the journey -may you meet only good fortune along the way! Just want to say thanks for all of the words of encouragement! This is without question the most difficult decision I've ever had to make in my life but feel like I am doing the right thing. I'm looking forward the information session at Middlesex and hope to begin the process shortly thereafter. I will be sure to keep everyone updated. Thanks again for the support! Jeremy
