Ok, so here is my problem- I started my journey off weighing in at 422 pounds and now I am down to 188 pounds (a real problem huh?) well, it has become a major issue! I am now trying to conceive and I was told that I have to "STOP" losing weight. How am I suppose to stop? If anyone has any ideas please share them with me. If I could just "stop" I would because I am more than happy to stay right where I am. My Dr. is now concerned that I may be losing to much. I guess I am feeling rather concerned and a bit helpless Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Christine... what an awesome weight loss. Even though it wasn't what you wanted to hear... it still had to be nice to hear a doctor say, "stop losing weight" I am not an expert on how to gain weight in a healthy way, but maybe adding some protein shakes to your day? Or some whole grain carbs? Sorry can't help more, but just wanted to say best wishes to you as you enter a new chapter in your journey.

(laughs) Christine, I've had the same problem! Doesn't it feel BIZARRE to say (rather, complain) that you're losing too much weight? When I hit 158 last year, I was concerned. When I hit 151 after vacation in August, I was concerned. Since then, I've actually come back up a few pounds, which makes me feel a little better, but I've never gotten a solid answer either. How DO you stop this crazy thing?? Let me know if you get an answer, and I will do the same for you. Bette

Hi Christine, May want to try kicking up the carbs a little bit. ask your "Nut" what would be the best way to do it! There are lots of suppliments out there to add a bit of weight, I'm sure the doctor's office has delt with it before. Good Luck on both your weight and your effort to"conceive " !

Perhaps you might consider consulting with Nancy Murphy to find out how to safely add a few cals so not to sabotage all your wonderful success. Sending email with other suggestions. T.

Having needed to bulk up a little from my slightly emaciated low-weight, it is a terribly slippery slope trying to change your diet just enough to gain, but not changing it so drastically as to get trapped into old undermining behaviors. I still struggle (and need to consciously avoid returning to those behaviors) even though I am at a comfortable and hopefully sustainable weight. Because of my experience, I would suggest just waiting to see where your body decides its set weight should be. Then work on maintaining that weight (maintenance is much tougher than I would have ever imagined). If the issue is having to forestall conception until you are at your set weight, only you can evaluate if you are willing to wait. Good luck in making the decision that is best for you.
