I orginally posted this in the wrong place... I thought i was in the CT board but was on the October 2006 boards- oops!!! I have a date and am so excited! Wow! Yesteraday was my sons 5th birthday and I got a call from the Drs office, they wanted to schedule my surgery date, and offered me some dates, including 11/20, that worked for me! Dh can take a week off and with getting thanksgiving, that will me all the week of the 20th plus the monday and Tuesday of the following week! Yeah! I hope that is enough time! Anyone know what the criteria is till you can drive Is it to be off pain meds or what? So now I jsut have to count down the days, make child care plans and pray my insurance does not cause trouble. I am hopeful they will aprove, I did the 6 months Dr supervised weight loss- lost 11 lbs, and have a BMI in excess of what they require as well as 2 co morbids. Thanks for listening! Sheila

Hi Sheila. I had RNY Lap and I drove myself to my first post op visit to my doctor's office a week later. First couple of day home were a little uncomfortable but was a piece of cake after that! Good Luck!

Cogratulations on getting a date. Yes you need to be off any narcotic type pain medication. When I got home I was feeling good enough to drive but was told by my doctor not drive until he saw me at my 1 week checkup, after I saw him he gave me the ok to drive. After a few days at home I was able to resume most of my usual activities, just no heavy lifting. I hope all goes well and insurance gives you the ok too. Sher

Thank you : ) It has been a LONG journey! i started looking into this back in 2000 but I knew I wanted more kids, I only had one child back then, and from what little I could find for information, i felt it would be better to comeplete the family and then get the surgery. I now have 2 great boys and a little baby girl who I had in january, this year. We are done now and I feel safe to proceeed. I have been doing the Dr supervised weight loss program with my PCP for the last 5 months, have lost 11 lbs (with the PCOS I seem to lose at a snails pace) and have been given the date of 11/20 for surgery. My middle child will be going and staying with my parents for a week, my older one (age 11) is a great help with the baby. So it all looks good. I am excited and scared- normal emotions for this time I am sure. Thank you for listening ; )
