Medicaid and plastic surgery

Hello, Does anyone know if Medcaid cover any type of plastic surgry for post op weight loss patients?????????? Thanks Rachael bennett [email protected]

Racheal, Like any insurance, medicaid would cover it if it is deemed medically necessary....Do you have straight medicaid or a managed care program??Here in CT, most medicaid (for families at least) is through managed care providers like blue care...If yours is through a managed care provider, you could call the insurance directly and find out...if it is through straight medicaid, you may have a harder time finding out if it is covered...you may have to call your local medicaid office and ask for the number for the provider relations, or the direct number to find out what coverage you have...or, it may be easier to have your doctor's office find out for you... I work with the medicaid program, and dealing with it can be a big pain in the a$$, but it does provide pretty good coverage....If you ask me, the US should have universal healthcare like most of the countries do in Europe.....
