Hi all, I can't believe it, I only have a week and a half to go, till i'm a loser. It feels like forever today, but going by sorta fast, also. I know that doens't make sense, but those of you who have been thru this, you know what I mean. My nerves are driving me crazy, all the what ifs. Will i be okay, etc. I start my liquid diet on Friday. I wonder how much weight I will lose in those ten days? Anyone have and average on what they lost in the ten days? Also, I need to lose the 4 pounds I gained quitting smoking. Stacie

I think I lost about 6 or 8 pounds - I can't remember - I definitely lost more in the week before surgery then in any one week (or month) since! Good luck - it will go by super fast - just keep looking forward!

Tammy, I can't wait to start losing. All I noticed this week was that I gained 4 pounds from quitting smoking. I'm not thrilled about that, but at least I will lose it going forward, after surgery. How's the band working for you? I'm looking forward and I have to tell you today absolutely dragged. Thanks for the luck. Stacie

You will never regret giving up smoking - it will be 5 years this February for me and I am so glad I got that nasty habit out of my life! I do occasionally get a craving but it passes quickly.........The band is good - it's a very slow process for me - other people have a lot quicker results. I have been averaging about a pound a week - they say 1 to 2 pounds is good so I'm in the ball park - the thing that is hard is that it is an average - which means I can go several weeks without losing anything and then drop 3 pounds - so it all ends up averaging out - so it can be frustrating. I am not gaining - I am on a slow and steady path. All in all I do not regret my decision. Are you getting the band or the bypass? Best Regards, Tammy

Tammy, Hi, I am having the bypass. I feel that the band would not work for me. I NEED the malabsorbtion. I have tried everything since i was in 4th grade, that I can remember. Something is up with my metabolism. So, I figure, well hope, the bypass will work. And everyone knows there are no promises. And, I am paying for this up front. So, i am hoping for the best. All I can do is try and follow my surgeons directions and exercise. I bought a treadmill and it's all set up. Slow and steady is good, you will not have to much extra skin to worry about in the future. Good Luck, Stacie

Yipee!!!! Super congrats on quitting smoking. I quit the day I decided to have WLS...May 15th 2006. nearly 5 months now!!! Its the hardest thing I've ever done. Surgery will be a blast compared to that!!!

Beth, Thanks, I can't believe i have not had a cigerette since September 15th. I really would like one but I know that I can't smoke. I have never tried to quit before, so I'm siked that I was able to quit. I'm getting closer to surgery date and more anxious. I start my liquid diet on Friday. Not looking forward to no food and no cigs, but I have will power. Stacie
