dr Richi
You may want to read some of the feed back from people who had the surgery at St Marys.... click on "Bariatric Hospitals" in the blue bar to the left.
Having had a child there in 2001 I agree with most of the posts. They seem to be very over worked and understafed.... unless your insurance will ONLY ocver him, you may want to consider some other options...
when my mom was in the hospital last year for a month one of her roomates had Dr Richi as her dr and we were very much less than impressed with him. This poor girl had severe pain and he walked in the room gave her his totally prepared speech and walked out while she was trying to explain to him how she felt. He never even listened to one word she had to say, and she ended up having to refuse to leave the hospital. Turned out she had a bowel obstruction(she was not a wls patient) and if she had left the hospital as he told her to then who knows what may have happened to her. I did not like what i witnessed with him and as a WLS patient we need a dr who will listen to us and everything we need to say and be re-assured as needed. from what i saw i dont think that u will get that with him. it is only my opinion tho and what i witnessed first hand. good luck
as for St Mary's yes they are over worked, but most all hospitals are. I have had all good experiences with the type of care I have received there. I had all 4 of my children there and as I said my mom with her cancer has been in and out of there for over a year and they are wonderful with her.
