Caught myself slipping back into those old bad habits yesterday. Sat down to read the mail after work with a box of "Triskets" and just left it open as I went thru the mail. Just stareted reading and munching when I stopped. Looked at the open box and took 6 crackers out and closed the box and put it away. Would have been so easy to just keep munching away ! Kinda scary how easy it can happen. Have to keep reminding myself just how hard it was to get to where I am . Grab a water bottle and keep it by my side all the time. Don't know if anyone else has had this happen , but just thought I would throw it out there. Take Care

Amen to that J-man! It IS easy to munch, graze, slip a bite here and there... whatever one wants to call it trying to make it seem less dangerous. DANGER DANGER WILL ROBINSON! Being conscious of what we do AND don't do is paramount for a successful journey long-term. Thanks for the reminder. As a matter of fact, I have a few items I need to sit down and have a talk with myself about! And... I was thinking last night... WOW! Only one wee****il we all meet at the walk! T.

Don't be so hard on yourself Julio....Remember that this new way of eating we have now does have to be a conscious effort, It does not come natuarally yet...Old habits will come up when we are not conscious of it, but that is no reason to beat yourself up....Just accept that you slipped up, and move on... And, if I may make a suggestion, treat yourself once in a while so you don't feel deprived...Just do it being fully "aware"....Savor the taste...And don't feel guilty over it... I think it is mindless eating (like snacking on triscits while opening mail ) that can become a problem...But then again, so can depriving yourself of every food you love........ Sorry if I am rambling on.... You know what works for you.....You are doing a great job Julio.... See you soon, Warrior Princess

Julio, Don't beat yourself up, man....It was one time that you let yourself slip up and the heck with it. You are conscious of what you did and next time you sit down to open up the mail, just take out the 6 Triscuits and eat just that amount! You've done SO well...a varation from the theme from time to time is ok, I say. I walked by a package of Twizzlers the other day and couldn't pass it up. It was SO long since I had them and they tasted SO good!!! It was a once in a while treat that I needed and now that I have had them, I'm done with them and probably won't want them for another year! Look at it this way...at least you got your fiber in for the day! Have a good weekend. Chilly here this morning on the RI coast! paula

Julio, I think it is great that you "caught" yourself slipping and DID something about it. How many times did you dive into that box before and were not even aware of it in pre WLS days? Shows that you have been working hard to turn your bad habits into good ones. Taking 6 and putting the box away THAT WAS AWESOME! I found myself in the goldfish bag yesterday and boy was it so easy to keep reaching in for just a few more. Thanks for the reminder of how easy it is to slip and how important it is to correct the problem before it gets out of hand (and into the mouth) keep up the good work friend, terri

Hey big brother, Good for you, acknowleding that you almost slipped. Knowing you were on that road is quite an accomplishment in our lives. I have been there many times and I know its so hard not to get back into those old habits of ours. I give you a great big hand for knowing your limits and doing something about it. Your an awesome person and my hero. Hugs to you little sis KimC

That was me on Wednesday. I felt so rotten after. I couldn't believe what I did. Thankfully after that I got back on track. My sept. board reminded me we went thru too much to blow it now. and that is the truth. also I paid the price for it the next day. my intestines were not happy. And I'm glad of that. Gross but glad. It is scary how easily it could happen. Keep doing good and so will we. Koukla

Thanks for posting! It is nice to know that there are others out there who are "human" so to speak. I have good days and bad days....for the most part, they are good. I had a few bites of Dairy Queen last night. It was amazing - like Dorota said, I savored every second of it. LOL. But unlike the past, where I would have eaten a huge portion and hardly have tasted it, I ate a few bites, loved it, and had a little tummy ache later. BUT, I did work my butt off earlier in the day at the gym, so no guilt here! You hang in there Julio!

Julio, It is funny that you bring it up because I was just thinking that yesterday as I was doing the same thing. It is a never ending battle. I wonder if it will ever get easy. Take care Scott
