CALLING ALL CONNECTICUT AND INTERESTED PEOPLE....................

I have been discussing this with a few people locally and kim k, and have decided to throw the idea out here,,,is anyone interested in having a big w/l/s holloween costume party bash,complete with d.J and food,dancing raffles,prizes for costumes,,etc,,,apple bobbing,and whatever else we can think of ????? I along with kim are willing to get this going if anyone else shows interest. It will be alot of fun and a chance for us all to get together. Some of us have met,others can meet.This is a great group of people and we would really have a great evening out,I work at a hotel and could get a discounted price on a funtion,but location doesnt really matter to me,I would just love to get together again. If we have it where I work,you all that are not close can get a room at your own expense(discounted of coarse) and kids can come enjoy the indoor pool while we party ! There also is a complimentary breakfast in the a.M.Well,please let me know or kim k know what you all think,,,so I can get prices,and we can get it rollin..Let me know...Thanks,,hope to see or hear from all of you,,,cyndee

Hi, Cyndee! Some of us who were on the committee for the WLS Spring Fling in March (the dance we had at Il Monticello on the Wallingford-Meriden line) attempted to put together something along the lines of what you're proposing because a number of the people who attended the March dance wanted to do it again sooner than once a year. Unfortunately Il Monticello (who gives us a very good deal since we do it as a fund raiser for ASBS) didn't have the date we wanted available and other places were much more expensive. Then we got some feedback from the Walk from Obesity committee saying that they felt that an October dance would be too close to the Sept. 30th walk and would detract from their fundraising efforts. So we shelved the idea. If you can pull this off, at a reasonable price, in a fairly central location, in such a short period of time...you're terrific! We started working on the March dance in Nov. (4 months before) and you've only got a month and a half. BTW, where do you work? Please don't interpret this reply as being negative. We all had a great time in March and it would be wonderful to see everyone again. I just wanted you to be aware of the lead time we had and wish you luck in pulling something off for such a popular weekend with much less lead time. If I can help with something, please let me know. Hi tammy, I work at howard johnsons beverly hills suites in windsor locks,near bradley airport.Its a newly remodeled hotel and I can get the banquet hall for $100.00.Any one that lives further away could stay in the hotel for a discounted rate,and the whole family can come and enjoy the indoor pool,,free breakfast buffet,etc.I have a few people that are willing to volunteer food preparation and other help,and towanda knows a d.J.,dont know what the cost would be for that,but it will probably be a blast.We are a really fun bunch.Besides,,wouldnt you want to pay top dollar to see bob in a bozo suit...Lol...(sorry bob!.) seeing as holloween is on a Tuesday,we would have the party either Friday night the 27th,or Saturday night the 28th,thats a month after the walk,so it would be up to everyone if they want to spend anymore on this.Not really looking for a fundraiser,just a great time,,any extra money will go to the w/l source..Oh,,let me know what you think..Keep in touch,,cyndee

My mother in law lives in the condos right behind that hotel. (You mean the one near ADS pizza, right?) It's been a million and one different hotels over the years after they closed the entrance and exit ramps to 91. My MIL may be game to watch my kids that night for me if I choose to attend. I don't think we'd stay at her condo tho. to tight. Find out how much a discounted room would be. She'd bring them down to swim at the pool, definately. We just stayed at the Courtyard Marriott a few weeks ago prior to our morning flight to SF and the kids ruled teh pool there! I'd be game for just finger foods, some light refreshments and just good company. Heck, we could just bring in a boom box that plays an iPod and let it shuffle and we'd save a lot of money! Get the specifics for $$$ and let us know. paula

yup,thats the place.its quite nice now,,my boss is in new york right now,so i really need to get head count of interested people before i ask for a price. and simple foods are going to be in the program,with quite a spread of variety..all the ideas so far are good ones..hope we get alot more of an interest though...wanna help me get it goin??? Hi Cyndee~ I have the name of a good DJ. While the other DJ at the last dance played OK music, he did not engage the crowd. The guy I know does. Makes for more fun. Not sure as to my schedule right now. Lots of family stuff going on that is taking my attention. It does sound like fun though. Where do you work? What town? That's my input for now. T.

hi dorota, yea,i like the friday thing better too,i am hoping i get more responses though so we can do it,i really think we would have a blast,i have about 20 people that would like to attend,that are contimplenting or already had the surgery too. from this area..waiting for all the responses to make final preparations,i would only need help on prizes for costumes and maybe some other stuff like paper goods,will keep ya posted,keep watching the boards.,,take care..cyndee
