6 Months for me!

I posted this on the lapband board but wanted to post it here as well.... and thank all of my "neighbors"! Thanks for the support and guidance guys - CT has some of the most wonderful people in the world within its small boarders! Today is my 6 month bandaversary! I have lost 27 pounds in 6 months (48 overall) - that puts me right on track for one pound a week average - do I wi**** was faster? You bet!! Am I thrilled that it's working? You bet! I have learned a lot about myself in the last 6 months - I have learned that I used food to help me think - I guess that might be considered a stress eater - I noticed whenever I had a challenging homework assignment to work on I would get up and go to the kitchen and find myself standing infront of the refrigerator - I don't do that any longer unless it's to get a glass of water! I'm hoping I can take off a little more then a pound a week for the second half of my first year journey - but it is what it is - if I don't I'm not going to be upset over it - this is a life long journey, not a race, if it takes me two years to get to a healthy bmi -then so be it - at least I know I am on the right path and am so grateful to be on it! Someone reading this may not think I'm the biggest success story the band has ever seen - but that's okay - I'm not doing this for anyone but myself. I probably could have lost more if I had exercised more and made perfect food choices - but I'll probably be one of those people who struggle with exercise and never make perfect food choices - I think I'm pretty average in that respect. But that being said, I think all of us who have made the WLS decision are anything but average - we all have a common bond and that is we looked our obesity in reality and knew we would never conquer it without help - it takes a brave person to do this! Best regards to all of you on your journeys - thank you so much for all the support and advice over the last six months - I really appreciate it!! Warm Regards, Tammy

Hi Tammy, From one bandster to another I think you are doing a great job!! Keep up the great work and congrats on your 6 month anniversary. I seem to be somewhat struggling in the weight loss dept. myself. Just very slow. I did join Curves this week so I hope it will speed up the weight loss. God knows walking isn't doing the trick!! Like you said, it is what it is..if it takes a few years - oh well!! I can't wait to get my first fill!! Well this should be about you and not me but I wanted you to know you were not alone in the slow weight loss dept!! Warm Regards, Nancy K

Thanks Nancy - you haven't even begun your journey until you get restriction - any weight you lose now is all on your own. Congrats on joining curves - I hope you like it!

Nancy: RE: Walking... If you like it... try Leslie Sansone Walking Tapes. I thought they would not work... guess what? they do! There is the 20 min, 1 mile and 30 min, 2 mile and 45 min, 3 mile and on. And you can then do it at home at your convenience. Just a suggestion to give you more options. T.
